Bad stoppage in the Bellew v McKenzie fight, not done Bellew any favours there really.

Have to remind myself Degale was only in his 9th fight in order to be objective. Thought it was a good performance but the guy needs to lose the amateur style and learn how to punch properly, he showed he can do it a few times, but he slaps too much and his overhand right is a joke. To win the British title from a legitimate opponent in only your 9th is impressive and he obviously has talent so hopefuly he can push on now, cut out the fouling and continue to progress.

Cleverly decided to make hard work of it again so will be interesting to see where he goes now, don't know how he'd get on him Braehmer of Shumenov, but Cloud and Pascal would beat him so despite picking up the interim title I think he should probably set his sights a bit lower for his next fight.

Heard rumours pre fight that Macklin was ill so that may explain his showing, think he may of found his level now but hopefuly they make the Barker fight and the winner can go on for a shot at a 'world' title.

Kell Brook in another pointless fight, honestly don't see the fuss about the guy and can only hope they stick him with Mike Jones next because he will get beaten badly, Jones probably learnt more in his fight with Karass than Brook has in his whole pro career.

Actualy wasn't a bad card in the end, hopefuly we'll see some good fights tonight

Khan deserves a lot of credit for that win, very impressed by him tonight, showed he can tough it out when he needs to and that he has the brains to get on his bike as well, good job Maidana didn't catch him with that big shot when he had more gas left though... Considering this was a guy who had been down against Willy Limond you can't help but be impressed with how his punch resistance has improved. Maidana loses nothing in defeat imo and hopefuly we'll see him out again soon, and after a tune up maybe against Ortiz or Kotelnik in a rematch or the loser of Bradley v Alexander

All esay for Brook, i disagree a bit with Cbris, finding decent tests for Kell cant be easy, his style and power will be hard for anyone a present, that guy although not top tier was durable on paper, as for Mike Jones he got lucky last time out, Karass was just a strong rumble forward type but Jones who boxes well found it hard to keep him at bay, if he cut lose like he did in the 2nd rd with those wide flaping punches i think Brook would have a feild day.

Intresting to hear about Macklin maybe ill that wuold explain a really poor showing, i thought either he had over trained or thought he would have an easy night, stamnia look poor.

When you think somethings going to be easy it turns out hard and vice versa, Maybe Cleverly and Macklin thought thing were going to be easy,to be fair the change of opponent would'nt have helped ,but that the game, he was clearly fustrated by a tricky who stopped him getting his bombs off, should really have just stuck to the jab.

Superb preformance by Degale, did'nt look like he even came out of 2nd gear, i said it could turn out to be a show case for him, and it was, Smith was never in any position to ask any questions of Degale and even when he did get close he could'nt land anything.
I dont want to keep disagreing with Cbris but, ok he did slap a bit but so did a certain unbeaten welsh champion. i'm sure Smith did'nt think he was being slapped, again sorry to disagree Cbris but i think with a few tweeks his style will prove very effective.
If Groves has any sense he will steer a wide path from Degale.

Very poor stoppage in favour of Bellow, the knock down was good but the guy could have gone on,
Bellow talks a great fight but i'm starting to wonder just how far he can go.

Great 1st rd great 10th rd great fight, Maidana is one tough cookie, that body shot would have put paid to a lot of fighters but the way he just got up was something else.
As for Khan he proved to me at least the the early career knockdowns and ko were down to recklessness and may be weight issues, the punches he took from Maidana were serious and if he was chinny he would still be in dreamland now.

All in all a good nights boxing.

Calzaghes early career was before my time but from what I have seen/what I understand he didn't start out slapping, he only started doing that after all the hand trouble he had so Degale really shouldn't be doing it and he's now been warned in more than one fight for it. I'm sure he will go on to make a splash at World level but he needs to work on that. He showed he can do it, just needs to do it all the time when he flurries and not just when he throws single shots. For his 9th pro fight it was impressive, but I'm not getting carried away just yet.

I'm not sure I buy into the Brook is making his opponents look poor point of view, whilst naturaly talented he's not really faced anyone and yet people are talking of world title fights. I don't think Jones is a world beater either, but Brook isn't ready for him or Karass, he should be by now, but his poor competition means it would be too big a step. I'd agree Jones got lucky, but like I said either of them would beat Brook now and I tend to think had Jones thrown all those punches at Brook he would of stopped him. The thing is Jones will have learned a lot from that fight and wont make those mistakes again, whereas Brook has learned relatively little in his pro career. If they fight a year down the line I'd have no idea on the outcome, but if that fight gets made next I'd have no hesitation in picking Jones.

Although I stand by what I said re: Degale and Brook I think I may of been a little harsh on Cleverly. Maybe it was just a bad day at the office, considering the replacement was better than the guy he was supposed to be facing, not to mention his style was completely different.

Anyway, I respect your points of view YB and theres no need to apologise for disagreeing mate, be boring if we all thought the same thing, would much rather have a bit of debate than a consensus on everything as its interesting to hear other peoples opinions...

You know one of the best things about this site is the respectful way people talk to each other (for the most part), all site's are not the same, in fact some are quite unbeliverable which means you can't have s proper exchange of views with out someone getting upset.
Early Calzaghe befor your time, Cbris you make me feel old, Brook does need stiffer tests and of course whats the rush, time is on his side.
Did you have any bets on the night mate, i bottled out of a Degale bet because i was worried about cuts but i did do Khan.

Yeah I did, had Macklin, Cleverly and Khan on points in an accumulator with Brook, Bellew and Degale by stoppage so a good night, lol...Cheeky

On a serious note I just had a few small bets in the end dude and came out marginaly ahead but had Maidana stopped Khan it would of been a much better night. Ended up going for Degale by stoppage at 10/11, Bellew by Stoppage at 4/6, Maidana to be knocked down at 4/5, all of which came in, lost on Darchinyan outright who dropped a SD, Varon to stop Macklin which I did in running and Maidana to be knocked down and win which was 14/1!!! Crying or Very sad

Yeah Brook has time on his side, shame Hatton has the Euro belt as that fight won't happen due to bad blood between Hatton and Warren. Be interesting to see what Warren does with him now
