|
|
|
Another great Prizefighter competition takes place on Saturday evening. I've studied their prospects and thought I'd share with you all. If you have any further information or opinions on anything I've written below please add.
Eamonn O'Kane Age 30 – Fights 4 Won 4 Stopped 2
Beat Wayne Reed easily on points latest who is a decent yardstick. O'Kane was a very good amateur who managed to beat George Groves before also winning Commonwealth Games Gold in 2010. Drawn to meet Fitzgerald in the first fight of the night and in my opinion the winner of that contest will win the event outright.
Anthony Fitzgerald Age 26 – Fights 15 Won 13 Stopped 4 Lost 2 Been Stopped 1
Lost two of his first three but has now won twelve on the bounce. Only two fights ago he beat Affif Belghecham in the fifth round who just a year earlier had taken Darren Barker to a points decision. Darren Barker in this tournament would be an odds-on shot outright and could probably win it with one hand tied behind his back.
J J McDonagh Age 26 – Fights 7 Won 6 Stopped 4 Lost 1 Been Stopped 1
Suffered a poor defeat by Tommy Tolan in his third contest, but has bounced back winning his next four. Three of those were against modest opposition, however his last victory was a seventh round stoppage of Lee Murtagh who isn't bad and was coincidentally also stopped in round seven by Anthony Fitzgerald.
Simon O Donnell Age 26 – Fights 12 Won 11 Stopped 6 Lost 1 Been Stopped 1
Hard to know what he's beaten really, but has fought on the undercard of some decent bills in the States which will have done him some good. Shouldn't be taken lightly.
Joe Rea Age 28 – Fights 15 Won 7 Stopped 4 Lost 7 Been Stopped 4 Drew 1
Lost his last six fights against mostly better opposition than in this tournament, but still hardly inspires any confidence. Also lost a clear points decision to Eamonn O'Kane around six months ago. With a new trainer now though and been sparring with the likes of Tony Bellew in preparation for this tournament.
Ryan Greene Age 28 – Fights 5 Won 5 Stopped 1
Similar profile to Simon O'Donnell, unbeaten, but what has he beat? Difficult to know what to expect, could win, but I'd prefer to look elsewhere.
Darren Cruise Age 22 – Fights 4 Won 3 Stopped 0 Lost 1 Been Stopped 0
Lost his last fight to Lee Murtagh who has been stopped by both Anthony Fitzgerald and JJ McDonagh so probably out of his depth in this competition.
Ciaran Healey Age 37 – Fights 33 Won 13 Stopped 4 Lost 19 Been Stopped 8 Drew 1
Beaten comfortably on points a couple of years ago by Anthony Fitzgerald. Rarely wins nowadays and age isn't on his side.
So for me it's O'Kane just, but his first fight against Fitzgerald won't be easy. |

| Also if you fancy a small stake to win big, try the 300/1 on offer from SkyBet that all 4 quarter finals are won within the first 3 rounds. |

I like the look of that 300/1 bet for all quarter-finals to end inside the distance. Probably won't happen, but in no way is it a 300/1 shot, probably nearer 50/1 maybe.
Name the finalists I'd quite fancy O'Kane v Rea at 20/1. |

Noticed SkyBet don't seem to have that 300/1 for all the quarter-finals to finish inside the distance quoted on their site any longer.
I think they realised they made a mistake with that one even if it doesn't come in.
I've had a fiver on at 300/1 anyway, just for some extra spice and backed O'Kane at 9/4 to win outright. |

Had a few quid on Mayweather on ponts as suggested and also backed the Prizefighter winner outright so good night all round.
Roll on next week and hopefully we can have some good discussions on the forum.
May looks a big month for fights with Lynes v Witter, Khan v Pettersen and Froch v Bute. |
