Exactly what I've gone for - although taken Holland outright at 15s as well not sure if you can still get that price. _________________ brewsty39 |

19:45 Euro 2008
Spain @ 6.75
My tip to win this. Germany should get final so probably worth a punt for traders but i dont think i could place my full faith in them at their price. Italy for me aint as good as 06 when i backed them so i will leave them alone. Portugal for me aint strong enough to win this,i think the french side is good but this spainish side just has that bit more quality to them and with likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Torres and Puyol in squad theirs plenty abilty in the side. |

Anyone thought about covering one side of the draw? I managed to get pretty good pre-tournament odds:
Croatia @ 18.0, Portugal @ 8.8, Czech @ 25.
The side of the draw that Germany are on is quite likely to involve them, Portugal, Croatia and Czech. If you bet on all except Germany to win the tournament outright, then bet for Germany (against Czech/Croatia/Portugal) in each match after group stages, you are guaranteed to have either one of your teams in the final, or have made a nice amount on Germany. I'm pretty sure if you are clever about this, you can lock in a nice profit.
Also, if you got on the Boylesports.s deal, then your stake gets returned if your team are losing finalists! |

Croatia @8
Based on their performance on the group stage, they have 3 wins of 3 matches, their second team still can beat Poland by 1-0.
They also beat Germany by 2-1 after leads 2-0 first. With Modric, Srna and Kranjcar at their midfield, they are absolutely have a good chance to become a champion.
Italy & Croatia as finalists @50
Looks a good bet for me, Italy always prove they have a mentality during every tournaments. I am still remember how they managed to win wc 2006. I think they are still capable to go through a final.
Toni still show a dismal performance in their group stage matches, but I think he will improve during the knockout stage.
His performance with Bayern last season also prove he is a very good striker. Buffon as a world class keeper will have a tough test against Spain but they will beat Spain and Holland to be in the final. |

There is part of me that has a bad feeling i'm going to regret not backing Italy at 20/1 before yesrterday's game. Ridiculous odds. Did make a little from backing Italy to qualify from the group @ 3.5 though.
Italy might not have been overly impressive but they do what is required. Like the last world cup they quietly went about their business while everyone else was bigging up Argentina, Germany, France.
Must say Croatia v Italy final @ 50's is very tempting. |

I would Lay Italy for the title myself at 6/1.
While Italy rarely produce anything magical in the group stages they beat a pretty poor France side to qualify and while they take on the propetual under achievers in Spain they will be without key players Pirlo and Gattuso. Both players play an instrumental part in the way Itlay play especially with the loss of Canavaro for the tournament.
I don't see Italy getting past Spain who have played some good football and should exploit the holes in Italy's midfield. |

fairfranco, I agree with you Spain showed a nice football during the group stage. But Spain don't have a good record in every tourney before include last wc 2006. They showed same thing like now but during knockout stage they can't even go through semifinal.
I think Italy has a good chance to beat Spain although they will be without Gattuso and Pirlo. Italy as an underdog can suprise anyone.
Anyway good luck with your bet. |

I have seen nothing to like about Italy so far except for Buffon, and it is easy to read things into a victory against a 10-man team that would simply not have been there against 11.
Without Gattuso and Pirlo they are without creativity and guts in midfield, although the only player who stood out last night was Toni - and that because he missed so many chances.
A good side like Spain should see them off with a bit in hand. |

I'm guessing i'm going to upset a lot of people by proposing my idea of laying Russia outright for the tourney. The odds have taken a huge plunge after yesterday evenings game, the best you can now get on them is 4-1. Realistically I think laying this price has to be a possibility - having to face two giants on the spin and beating both of them , I don't think so. If they do get past Italy or Spain (I think Spain) which I think they don't as Russias back line looked weak at times yesterday evening and Villa/Torres or Toni/Del Piero have the quality to exploit that. Even then if they do, they have to get past the solid Germans! I think people have started lumping on Russia and whilst all the hype is still on them I would Lay them whilst the chance is still there. _________________ brewsty39 |
