Wins in the Prem for Swansea, Bolton and Newcastle give 10.75pts on the win LSP to give a return of 49.6pts in the last week. The lack of draws pegged back the overall gains in the top flight to 4.75pts but it certainly has been a profitable Christmas for the underdogs. The Championship also continued the current good run with wins for Brighton and Derby but it was a poor return yet again in League 1 while League 2 recorded a minimal loss. In Scotland the two Old Firm clubs had easy victories to add a couple of more points to the losses.

With the FA Cup’s in England and Scotland taking precedence there are just a few games in the home isles for us to browse over. Most of the European leagues are still in their winter hibernation but this week sees the reappearance of the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese leagues. Let’s hope the winter break has done the underdogs the power of good.

Not much to shout about in the English or Scottish leagues with only the English League 2 showing a profit and now has both the win and draw tally in positive figures. In Europe the once reliable French league returned to give us yet another shut-out and is now almost as barren as the Portuguese league. The Spanish La Liga was profitable mainly in part to Sociedad’s win at Valencia while over in the Serie A in Italy it was a similar story with a couple of draws adding to Lecce’s win at Fiorentina to put that league in profit for the weekend.

Wins in the Premiership for Bolton and West Brom gave a much needed profit for the English top flight and that story was echoed in the English leagues 1 and 2 with a spate of wins and draws giving an overall couple of points profit in each. In Scotland, Dunfermlines’s win and Rangers’ draw gave another few points profit but it was the Dutch Eredivisie that surprisingly was the best performer with a 4.83 LSP for the weekend as the rest of the European leagues faltered once again.
