Over 2.5 goals is very short at 4/7 so they may be value with siding the extra goal. Arsenal are on a roll and have scored 12 goals in their last two home games. Newcastle meanwhile have suffered in games against better opposition away from home, for the simple reason they will attack - case in point being their last game away at Spurs where they were soundly beaten 5-0. They do of course have more than enough in attack to nick one at the Emirates especially with Demba Ba leading the line. Expecting Newcastle to line-up with 2 up front, which could make this a very open game, and with hopefully a lot of goals.
Villareal have a hapless away record, picking up only one victory, and scoring only 6 goals. However, at home they are a different proposition. They have only lost once at home this season. They have won five & drawn six of their home games but these draws include credible draws against sides such as Barca, Valencia & Atletic Bilbao. Gefate have not won for the last six games and travel to Villareal low on confidence. With the home sides record against teams in the lower half of the table, I'm siding with them to pick up all 3 points.
H2H says it all, Villarreal shall be victorious. Matter of fact, i had deposited some investment on Villarreal/Villarreal. Getafe had been rather bouyant while playing Away - during these recent months.
ESPN preview had manifested these : Villarreal is Gunning for a win with Fighting Spirit while Getafe is hopeful of a good performance - who will prevail, you tell me.
Getafe past Away matches are mostly 'red', i am sure the RED is coming back for them - tonight
Well hes red, in London and has waited over year to get himself back on Arsenals scoresheet, not once but twice. Here are his goals from the last 2 years for Arsenal:
Jan 20th 2010 - Premier League - Bolton
Feb 20th 2011 - FA cup - Leyton Orient
Feb 26th 2012 - Premier League - Tottenham
Mar 6th 2012 - Champions Leauge - AC Milan
Its a small list, but his recent performances have been some of the best I have seen from him for a long time. He's 5/1 to score again tonight, thats worth a bet for me since Arsenal are scoring for fun right now.
Looking at the form of both Arsenal and Newcastle I struggle to make a case for Newcastle tonight and expect Arsenal to win this quite comfortably.
Arsenal vs Newcastle Betting: Another high scoring game between these two expected in the Monday night game
Having seen their North London rivals Spurs slip up on Saturday, Arsenal now have the chance to move to within just one point of Tottenham on Monday night when they entertain Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium in a match which could go a long way to deciding the Champions League places at the end of the season. Newcastle have outside hopes of a place themselves and need a win here to maintain that chance.Arsenal are expected to have Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey back after both have missed some of the season so far with injury. Yossi Benayoun is fit after illness but Andre Santos is likely to miss out with this match coming too soon.
Newcastle have had a fantastic season and European football of any kind next season will be relished and a win here brings them to within 4pts of Arsenal in the Champions League places. The Magpies could be without Peter Lovenkrands for the rest of the season but he will definitely miss this match. Whenever these two meet these days minds automatically go back to last season when they drew 4-4 at St James Park in exceptional circumstances.
I expect there to be plenty of goals in this match too. Arsenal are looking vibrant going forward at the minute but you always feel there’s a goal in the opposition somewhere especially when that opposition has Demba Ba in its midst. Papiss Cisse is no mug when it comes to scoring either and this has the potential to be a really high scorer. Newcastle might open up more given the need to win while Arsenal want to win too. On their last trip to London Newcastle shipped 5 at Spurs. Arsenal are scoring for fun at the minute so this is an overs game for me.
Arsenal v Newcastle
With Tottenham slipping up,Arsenal have managed to close the gap to just 4 points, meaning this is a must win game for them to close the gap to just 1 point if they win.but football is such an unpredictable sport Newcastle could spring a surprise, especially when they have top class strikers in Ba,Cisse & Ameobi who could score against any team, especially against a poor defence that is Arsenal back four.this is the type of game that players rise their game.it will all depend on the Newcastle team selection & tactics.Don't know why everyone is going mad for Arsenal,i know they're playing at home but if you dissect their previous performances & ignore the hype, you'll see they have been average even though they have won the games which have masked the poor performances, they gave away 2 really sloppy goals to Tottenham, the defence against Milan was rubbish, conceded 4 goals that more or less killed the tie,the Italians knew their defence in the second game would see them through,Liverpool could have been 5-0 up by half-time had they had their shooting boots.Arsenal will be full of confidence having managed to close gap with rivals Tottenham.but their defence doesn't fill me with confidence.Where as Newcastle defence have proved they have the what it takes to defend as proved with game against rivals Sunderland. Odds of8/1 for Newcastle win is a price to big to ignore against a shaky defence, factor in the manager would have told the player they have nothing to lose as they're not expected to win,to go out and enjoy the game as they have already had an amazing season so far sitting in 6th place, when pressure is taken off players & they tend to flourish,as proven with Swansea beating Man City.Form on paper doesn't win games. going for the money. If Newcastle shut out Alex Song in mid-field they win, can't see who else will give Van Persie ball too score.we all know Arsenal are really suspect from set-pieces & corners.Newcastle have alot of height in the team.
Newcastle to win 2-0@45/1 Newcastle to win 3-0@150/1 Ba to score first Newcastle to win 3-0@500/1 Ba to score first@8/1
Villarreal v Getafe
There's not alot between this two teams,apart from the fact Villarreal have a better home record and score more goals at home,it reads 5 wins,6 draws,1 loss,scoring 20 & conceding 13,their away form is 1 win,3 draws,9 losses,scoring 6 & conceding 25. Gatafe away record is 3 wins,3 draws,7 losses,scoring 14 & conceding 23. their home record is 4 wins,5 draws,3 losses,scoring 11 & conceding 11. these two teams sit 17th & 15th respectively.can't see why Gatafe@3/1 for the win.
Gatafe to win 2-1@12/1
St. Pauli v Karlsruhe
This fifth playing second from bottom in the German Bundesliga II league.St Pauli have been quite strong at home this season with 8 wins,2 draws,2 losses, scoring 25 & conceding 15. this is a game they could with,to get back to winning ways having had two draws in the last couple of games, and have now dropped out of the promotion places, however they're only 6 points off the top club.getting maximum points against a poor Karsruhe side whose away form is shocking, with 1 win,2 draws,9 losses, scoring 10 & conceding 25. will be a must if they're to get back in touch with the other promotion contending teams.
St Pauli to win 3-0@17/2
Lens v Bastia
This 12th playing 1st in the French Lique 2. Bastia are very strong at home, having not lost a game at home yet,but are average playing away, winning 5,drawing 3,losing 5,scoring 13 & conceding 11. Lens have had alot of draws, having had drawn 4 in the last 5 games. their home form is 5 wins,5 draws,3 losses, scoring 18 & conceding 14. this is a hard one to call.
I take your opinion, but don't agree with stats as they do hide alot of cracks.Last season's game against Newcastle is a perfect example as to why one can't read too much into stats. They were 4-0 up in 26 minutes, only for game to end 4-4 full-time. the stat of that game would read it was a draw, but the reality is Arsenal were really poor defensively having been 4-0 up. most football clubs would have shut-up shop and won the game comfortably.Man Utd,Chelsea, etc would have shut shop.As also proven in game against Milan, when they went 2-0 nil down, all they had to do was shut-up shop play defence.maybe get an away goal if lucky, but at least get out Milan with a 2-0 goal line which was a get able score-line,what did they do?kept attacking and ended up losing 4-0,which as proved was a tall order in the reverse fixture.

Arsenal v Newcastle
Arsenal are really starting to come good at the right time and despite going out of the Champs League in the week they will be full of confidence after smashing Milan 3-0 and with Spurs losing have a great chance to close the gap to just one point of third place and automatic champs league spot which looked well out of reach a few months back Arsenal are in form and unbeaten in five league games now and won four of them and at home won the last two very easily and hit 12 goals in the process and fear for Newcastle who have shipped goals for fun away of late and will not handle the pace of Gervinho and Walcott or the Ox on the flanks Newcastle have shipped 17 goals in there last 6 away so nearly shipping three away a game and you will rarely win if you do that
Van Persie is having a amazing season and had success against Newcastle in the past and has hit 4 goals against them in the last 6 meetings and will be the main threat as always and has some left peg and shoots on site and rarely misses the target
Rosicky was some player back in the day but never got going at Arsenal due to many injuries but is really looking sharper and back to his oldself the last few games and the reason why Arsenal are doing so well and bursts forward very well
There has been a sending off in the last three matches between the sides and Newcastle have had bad discipline of late and see them getting many tonight with Arsenal being too quick and skillful and Tiote could be the one
Had a lot of joy the last few days with Barca and Madrid bets so hopefully it continues
Van Persie hit the woodwork 4/1
Van Persie to score outside the box 3/1
Rosicky to hit the woodwork 10/1 NB
Rosicky to score outside the box 9/1
A sending off 3/1 NAP
Both these sides need points and although Getafe aren't in immediate danger of the drop zone, they could easily get sucked in so cannot rest on their laurels for this game. Villarreal are in what can only be described as a very unusual season. In previous years this has been one of the most feared sides outside the current top three but this year they lie in 17th place and only three points ahead of the drop zone. A win could take them to within four points of the top half.
At home this season they have only lost once and it has been their terrible away form that has been the major let down of their season. Only six points and goals accrued away from home this season is relegation form at it's best and they will need to keep El Madrigal as their main base for the majority of points. They face a Getafe side who also struggle for points away from home but have a slightly better record than their opponents with twelve points and with fourteen goals from thirteen games they do pose a goal threat, albeit a fairly average one.
In the last five games in La Liga, it is Getafe who have accumulated the least amount of points with just two draws to their name and Villarreal have a much healthier record with seven points from their last fifteen on offer. Villarreal were last beaten at home in the league on 23rd October against Levante which ended in a 0-3 victory to the local neighbours and although the Yellow Submarine have lost three times at El Madrigal since then, they have been Champions League defeats to Manchester City and Napoli and the 0-2 shock in the Copa Del Rey to Mirandes. In their last five home games they have held Barcelona and Valencia and have recorded wins against Sporting Gijon and Granada.
I would class Getafe's form as poor at the moment and with Villarreal getting stronger over the course of the season, the odds of evens must be classed as a value bet. Giuseppe Rossi is still injured but Nilmar is back in the fold and ready to score once more for his side. Villarreal have won six of the last seven meetings here in the league and a 3-3 draw is the only game in which points have been dropped. In my opinion, the home side should be around the 1.7-1.8 mark for this game but they have only been leading at HT in one of these games so I think that draw/Villarreal is a good shout also.

I'm assuming the chat/selections thread for today is the same thing so...
Arsenal v Newcastle
Unders 2.5 Possible Trade
More of an observation with a view to trading the Unders here. It is interesting to hear what Pardew has been saying, below is from TeamTalk.
"For us, it's about going there and trying to stop them being at their best and winning. That's something we did last year. We defended very well there last year and nicked a goal.
"We rode our luck many, many times in that game, but got the win, and there's no reason we can't do that again."
Wenger also has this to say, again from TeamTalk.
"Newcastle is a team that has offensive strength so a good defensive performance will be needed," he said.
It looks like Newcastle will set out to keep it tight and try and scrape a win from somewhere while Arsenal will not be flying out of the traps either. It was 1-0 the Toon at the Emirates last year and it appears as if thye will employ the same plan perhaps although you can't believe everything you read. It will be worth waiting untill the lineups are announced and what type of formations will be employed but I can Newcastle keeping it tight early so a decent trade could be had on the Unders. _________________ - 3 Pronged Attack Blog
