Durham v Derbyshire
Stuart Law top Derbyshire basman @ 4.33 (Totesport)
As I'm sure you guys know Law plans to use the new mongoose bat tonight. It's supposed to give 20% more power, 15% more speed and the makers claim it's the “single most radical change to cricket equipment since 1771”. Law himself said "I was sceptical when I first saw it. But after hitting with it, I reckon it will take the world by storm". Even if those claims prove half true it's surely a decent shout to back Law @ 4.33 and I'm prepared to place medium stakes on it. |

some pretty crazy claims.
Surely giving Yusef Pathan, Matt Hayden or Adam Gilchrist that bat would be a danger to people walking or driving outside of grounds?! |

I'm quite looking forward to seeing how Law actually does with this bat. It would be very exciting if the claims hold up. |

| I didn't see if Law did actually use the mongoose, but he hit 42 off 25 balls before he was run out, however Park and Rogers both got 50. |

Law waited until he was on 32 before he changed bats to use the mongoose. He faced 6 balls while he had the wonder willow and scored 10 runs (including his only 6) before he was run out!

| Yeah I'd agree, pretty inconclusive. He said he waited til there were 12 balls left then swapped bats to just go for it. Shame he left it so late to give it a try really as he probably wouldn't have got run out if there had been a few more overs left. |
