The 2012 County T20 season starts today with about 2 months of games to look forward to. Unlike the IPL not every game is televised so betting is limited on a lot of games but there will be plenty of games on Sky and plenty of good betting opportunities.
No big write up on the teams from me right now but my money for the tournament is on Surrey. With Kevin Pietersen available for pretty much the whole tournament since pulling out of the English one day squads they have won of the worlds best T20 batsman, along with Murali Kartik, Nannes, Dernbach, Batty, Du Bruyn and Davies they look to have an outstanding line up.
--
Leicestershire v Nottinghamshire
Leicestershire were somewhat surprise winners of last years tournament but they've lost a few players since then and Notts with their strong batting go into this game as strong favourites.
The Notts line up is confirmed as:
Alex Hales, Michael Lumb, Riki Wessels, Samit Patel, James Taylor, Adam Voges, Chris Read, Steven Mullaney, Darren Pattinson, Harry Gurney, Andy Carter
A wealth of talent in there with in form Hales and Taylor amongst others and a resonable bowling line up too.
Leicestershire side looks decent but I can't see past a Notts win today.
OVER 32.5 BOUNDARIES @ 1.83 (William Hill)
I'm going on last years stats which obviously aren't nailed on with team changes but it should give a good starting block.
The average on this ground last year was 34.4, the average in Leicestershire games home and away was 34.7 with them averaging 16.55 themselves. Nottinghamshire averaged 20.4 per game themselves while their match average was 37. |

| sorry to be picky gs but......Nannes didn't get 1 single game in the IPL this season! He has of course been very good in the past but he was unable to make into the RCB team at all this season. |

Somerset v Warwickshire
A tough opening tie for finals day chokers extrordinaire's Somerset as they take on Warwickshire. I like the look of the Somerset side who are strong as usual. They had plenty of problems with Gayle dropping out and Van Der Merwe not being able to be signed but they have got Richard Levi and Albie Morkel, both capable of making the little Taunton ground look even smaller.
the squad of:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (capt), Jason Roy, Steven Davies, Mark Ramprakash, Zander de Bruyn, Matthew Spriegel, Zafar Ansari, Gary Wilson, Murali Kartik, Gareth Batty, Stuart Meaker, Jade Dernbach, Dirk Nannes
Looks very impressive to me, especially with Dernbach available prior to England duty and nannes and Murali Kartik and Meaker making the bowling very strong.
The Warwickshire side doesn't look all that special to me and I think Somerset are rightly strong favourites on this very batter friendly Somerset ground.
Somerset to win @ 1.57
Most 6's - Somerset @ 1.8 (StanJames)
They have plenty of big hitters in their side and on this small ground know that clearing the ropes is the way to go.
Total 6's over 8.5 @ 1.83 (William Hill)
Only 3 games here last year but the average 6's was 11.6.
Hills have stuck their neck out here and gone 1 lower than the other bookies for this game. |

New boys Levi and Morkel did the business there, a big 69 from Levi and 4 6's to help us on our way to the overs and Somerset most 6's.
Hills proved the losers there by setting their line 1 lower as the total 6's was 9, under most peoples lines but over theirs! |

Brilliant day for me yesterday.... Essex crumbling at the end made me happy! I thought they were going to easilyget past the tame 120 (ish) Surrey got.
Somerset play away today, at Gloucestershire.
The match "in-play" will be Sussex vs Hampshire.
My country cricket knowledge is not that great, but after having a look i would fancy Sussex I think.
Would be good to get other opinions..... |

Gone for a little treble bet tonight :
Somerset, Surrey and Sussex all to win.
I think the odds work out at something like 5/1.

| Well it would appear the rain ruined most of yesterdays games, but luckily for me Surrey managed to get the win thanks to their bowling attack! |

Lancashire cost me.
They had a resonable score then it rained during Gloucestershire's chase. Lancs gave away 28 runs in the 2 overs prior to the Umpire taking the players off then never came back on.
Not sure of the exact figures but with 5 wickets down i'd say those 2 big overs may well have changed the game.
doesn't help that the final over of the game ended up with mahmood giving away a 4, 1 then 5 wides, 1 wide and a no ball. hmmmm! :x
Still a bit weary of the weather today but fancy Lancashire to win and Nottinghamshire to win. |

Beware of course of weather with todays games, looks to be clearing around a lot of the country this evening but check out the forecast before diving in.
Somerset v Welsh Dragons (Glamorgan) - at Taunton 17:30BST
Back Welsh Dragons @ 2.52 (Betfair)
Somerset are missing Richard levi, Albie Morkel, O'Brien and Dockrell for this game as internationals take players from their squad.
They still have a decent line up no doubt but I feel the Dragons are value here with Shaun Marsh and Marcus North both capable of putting in a performance at the top of the order on the small Taunton pitch.
I'll probably set a trade out at odds on maybe a 1.7 or something like that as i'm not totally confident in them to see it through but they are a value back in my book anyway. |

Essex v Surrey - at Chelmsford 7pm BST
Surrey @ 1.9 (SportingBet)
Surrey are missing Dernbach and Meaker but still have a strong side. Essex come off 2 good results but I feel Surrey playing their first game since the tragic death of Tom Maynard will be well up to the task and keen to perform with i'm sure a good crowd of emotional away supporters in this sell out fixture.
That said I can see some swings in this game (odds wise!) and if betting in play I can see Surrey going odds against at some stage. |
