Thankfully Stan James didn't include Chandila as one of the 6 bowlers in the economy bet! What a fantastic debut - 4 for 13!

Winnings are subject to a 15% rule 4 though since Alfonso Thomas didn't play.

Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians

What a clash this is set to be. 2 in form teams fighting for a place in the play offs and needing the win. Mumbai had an outstanding match at the weekend with Sharma making an impressive century in a 160 run partnership with Hershall Gibbs playing his first game of the season. Mumbai’s bowling is pretty strong as well with Malinga taking the most wickets and a mean economy throughout the season while Ojha, Harby, RP Singh, Patel and Pollard have all done well.

RCB as a team have one of the worst economy rates bowling wise in the league and as a result they’ve relied heavily on the power hitting of Gayle and Dilshan up top and AB De Villiers (often too late). The Bangalore pitch offers a lot of runs and easily hittable 6’s which in many ways benefits the style of their batsman however it does mean obviously that the other team will also enjoy hitting RCB’s often poor bowling.

Tough to call a result on this and I can’t call a position myself. On OLBG tipster comp I’m tempted by Mumbai for the value bet, they should be at least even stevens going into this game in my view. However from my betting perspective I won’t oppose RCB if they bat first, they only lost 1 wicket in Mumbai last week despite 4 tight overs from Malinga with Chris Gayle as he often has done this season sensibly seeing off the tough overs then punishing the bad balls when they come.

BEWARE – HIGH CHANCE OF RAIN IN BANGALORE TODAY SO POSSIBLE REDUCED OVER GAME WITH RAIN INTERRUPTIONS

My Bets:

Chris Gayle top RCB bat @ 2/1 (Ladbrokes)

Low odds for a top bat bet and you could take a punt elsewhere with 5/1 on AB De Villiers (SkyBet) also being a good bet but the form Gayle is in and the way in which he is sensibly starting his innings at times just makes you think he can do it every time. Malinga will be a tough opponent for him but he came through him last time and I think the only reason he’d likely lose his wicket early is if they are chasing a very high total and he feels he needs to push from the outset. The Ladbrokes price is far superior to the other bookies and worth a bet.

Tempted with some other bets on total 6’s and extra’s but due to the weather I’m holding off until just before the toss when I can get a better idea if the rain will play a part.

I would find it very hard to back Mumbai today personally. Although they have been picking up wins they have yet to convince me. To me their batting still seems very light in the T20 format. Would be surprised to see Gibbs match his knock against the KKR and Tendulkhar for all his class (and despite hitting the most 4's in the history of the IPL) has nowhere near the same impact in this format as he does in Test matches and ODI's. The middle-order is very inconsistent with players such as Pollard and Rayadu threatening big scores but more often than not holing out early doors. That leaves Rohit Sharma for me as the only man worth a Top Batsmen bet for Mumbai.

As for Banglore, evereybody knows about the power of their batting line-up with Dilshan, ABD, Gayle and Kohli you would fancy that at least two of these will always make a score. They are also perfect for this format of the game. However, in recent games what has impressed me has been the improvement in their bowling. Zaheer Kahn has looked back to his best recently and Vinay Kumar has backed him up very well at the other end. The main difference though, has been the genius of Murali, who's return to the team means that they have a bowler who will not only keep it very tight but also take wickets. Bets wise I would be tempted to back ABD as Top Batsmen, as their isnt much value in Gayle atm and Dilshan is inconsistent. With the quality of Mumbai's bowling it might take somebody like ABD to come in and see RCB over the line with Kohli struggling to find any real rhthym. RCB to win a fairly low score for me

KKR vs CSK

Before the tournament I thought that KKR looked very very strong, and I have to admit that was before I had seen much of Sunil Narine, who I have yet to see bowl a bad over. They have been very consistent so far with McCullum, Gambhir and Kallis all being capable of both batting with intent but also sensibly. For me, Gautum Gambhir is the best bet for Top Batsmen as McCullum is struggling with injury and may not play and Kallis scores steadily but fairly slowly, (strike rate of around 100 so far) often getting himself out at around the 20-30 mark as he tries to up his tempo. It will need a big innings from Gambhir to win this, and I think he will make up for his failure against the Mumbai Indians today.

CSK are my team, and have been Champions the last two seasons. I'm not sure why pundits seem surprised by Chennai's slow start as they make a habit of making things difficult for themselves. They look to be finding form at the right time again, stupidly losing to Mumbai in a game they had all but sealed but following that with wins over Rajahstan and the Daredevils. The inclusion of Hussey and Hilfenhaus has helped them, as has the steady return to form of Murali Vijay who has been arguably their star performer with Raina in their title winning seasons. As far as Top Bat goes, I would have to go with the IPL's all-time top run scorer Suresh Raina, who has threatened a score in almost every game so far. I fancy him to do what's in CSK's nature and come good at exactly the right time.

CSK to continue their habit of strong finishes for me. I think they will see off the KKR in a fairly high scoring game

Had a cheeky punt on KKR @ 22/1 at one stage in that game! So CLOSE! Shocked

T20 is very cruel indeed, not a good day for me at all yesterday.

Delhi looking a bit more unpredictable of late, Sehwag isn't having the same impact that he was previously having.

I haven't checked out the odds but I would fancy Delhi to make the highest first six over score here, they failed miserably in the last match and will be looking to make sure they get off to a good start......

gutted I keep missing these big finishes!

I was hanging around in the rain waiting for my cricketing debut to be cancelled while following on my phone. went for an indoor net session instead so missed the end and when i saw chennai had won by 5 wickets and knowing roughly how the game had been going along i assumed my 1.8 KKR trade out was doomed! Look this morning and see it was won with a last ball 6! Fantastic!

Paddy's have sure given a lot of refunds with all these last ball wins! Chennai and Mumbai especially seem to love a late finish! Cheeky

Good to see a bookie getting repeatedly bitten for their offer!

Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab

There looks to be very little value in this game at first glance, with most bookmakers going very short on Delhi. However, with the nature of IPL and the way the games turn so quickly I will be following the game and the live odds closely and hopefully manage to get the best price on both teams. Delhi should have this game in the bag on paper with Sehwag, Warner and Morkel amongst others. Kings XI dont really have a big-name superstar but what they do have is plenty of T20 specialists and I think this makes them dangerous and is probably the reason that they are in good form atm. They have 5 away wins on the bounce and have only lost once since Mahmood joined the team after solving his Visa issues. I can make a case for Kings XI and any of the teams can beat each other on their day, but I still think the Daredevils will get the points, especially if they are chasing. For me the best tactic though today may well be to take a bet on Kings XI at the longer odds and keep a close eye on the game for the inevitable twists and turns.

I'm going to keep picking a Top Bat for every game, and today for the Daredevils you can't look past the two big-hitters Sehwag and Warner. Warner has come into the team and had mixed fortunes, failing twice and hitting a magnificent century against the Deccan Chargers (albeit against very very average bowling) Sehwag set an IPL record of 5 consecutive 50's this year, and for me he will find his form again after a couple of failures recently and score well today. He only knows one way and thats too go after the bowling, sometimes at his peril, but his recent failures wont have affected him in the slightest and for me its has to be Sehwag

Kings XI are slightly harder to pick, at some stage this year Marsh, Miller, Mahmood, Hussey and Singh have all scored runs. I've never been a fan of having middle-order batsmen too often for top bat (unless like yesterday in the RCB game the openers are facing someone like Malinga!) so I will rule out Mahmood because I think he comes in just too late. I'm torn between the young Indian batsmen Mandeep Singh and the veteran Australian who has been-there-done-that David Hussey. Hussey has the better average in this years tournament but Singh has the highest score. It could be either of these two, but for me, Hussey's experience and his 68* in his last game will stand him in good stead today. I also dont think he will fear the Daredevils bowling, and for these reasons, I have to go with him, although part of me wants to be Singh![/b]

Also with the amount of players on show today who can hit big shots I would definitely be tempted to go Over the handicap on both the Total Match Boundaries and Total Match Sixes markets
