Sat- 18th
Hudds Vs Leeds
Well tonight for the first time in ages I am heading to Huddersfield unable to predict whos going to win this game. Leeds have been poor for the last 2 weeks whilst the Giants continue to get stronger and stronger. Leeds have lost 3 on the bounce and tonight I fancy us to scrrrape a win in what should be a tight defensive battle. The two teams like to slow down the play the ball a lot and Leeds have altered their approach defensively this season and this will play into the hands of a low scoring affair. I would not be suprised if the Giants pulled off the win as I have been very impressed with them and expected them to do well this season. Small stakes for me but I think one place where the Giants have the upper hand is out wide where Leeds have struggled to get any fluency and defensively have been pretty shakey. David Hodgson looks a decent bet to be 1st tryscorer. Im not his biggest fan but he has had a good start to the season so a small punt on 1st tryscorer or anytime TS will be the bet.
The handicap line is about 6 which looks about right so Im not very tempted to stick my hard earned on it and Leeds are 1/2 on the Moneyline which doesnt represent much value. Ill stick my neck and and go for a Leeds win 22-18
Catalans VS Salford.
FINALLY, thats what both sets of fans will be saying after very poor starts to the season. the two form teams of the lower half of the table meet tonight down on the Border in what should be a high scoring affair, neither team can defend but both can score point as they have demonstrated in the last few weeks. Its the first trip Salford have made to France I think and I reckon they will struggle with the heat, the physicallity of the Dragons and the passionate support that the French generate. Salford have gradually improved but I can see this one been a distater tonight. Easy Dragons win
The line is 12-16 with most places and I fancy theDragons can cover that easily and win by 4 or 5 scores.
Catalans win, 48-18 |

Is this week the time were all the big guns put some poor performances behind them and stamp there authority on the league. Warrington have struggled all season so far and couldn't buy a win but there fortunes may just of turned a corner as they recorded an excellent victory over a very poor Bradford side and momentum should now be with them to go on and get there season under way. Bradford have to travel to St Helens next week where it will be difficult to see the rot stopping. Huddersfield have impressed me so far this season but they was firmly put in there place by an emphatic Leeds performance. It would be good to see if this is just a minor blip from Huddersfield or is this were there season falls away as they have to travel to Warrington next week, either way this is not a match to take on a betting point of view. Wigan take on an improving Celtic side this afternoon but you have to feel a big performance is in Wigan. An encouraging effort against St Helens they traveled to the Catalans to be humiliated, they bring me to tears to watch them as i know the players at the club are better than there showing at the moment. Listening to the two gob s***s Eddie and Stevo again coming out with b******s of a side being tired after a hard game the week before, although this may be a little true looking at Wigan's performance what's the excuse of the other seven games for me there just under performing. St helens look the best attacking unit in super league at the moment but there defence looks a little vulnerable, also Castleford as the same credentials this year and this game looks to be wide open with a lot of points being scored.
PREDICTION
ST HELENS ( to win ) PaddyPower 2/7
also small stakes on the handicap -10 PaddyPower 10/11
WIGAN ( handicap ) -18 PaddyPower 10/11
GOOD LUCK ALL

Three games today in the Super League and the question is : Whos gonna have the most in the tank?
Saints have had the easiest Easter Period, two wins and a chance to rest few players against Hull on Monday whereas Cas have struggled a little and I think they will miss Ryan Hudson a lot today. 8 points in most places is the handicap and I dont think that is anywhere near enough to stop Saints who have been by far the best team so far this season. Cas will struggle to cope with the pace and speed of play the ball and as this game winds on I can see Saints running away with it as fatigue sets in. Saints by 16+
Wigan who have been terrible again despite dumping some more young talent to spend money on Martin Gleeson (what a suprise ) host the Celtic Crusaders who have yet to pick up a win. The Line is 18 in most places and looks about right. I have no confidence in either team at the moment but If i had to have a bet, Celtic +18 would be the way to go.
The 3rd game sees Hull KR travel down to London to play the Quins in what should be a tough Forward Battle down in the capital. Both teams have had a decent easter period and this game should be as close as the Line suggests (quins -2 in most places)
This is another that could go either way but I fancy Quins to win this one. They have a decent record against Hull KR and are a well coached unit. the trip down to the capital might take a bit extra out of the KR players and I fancy the Quins to capitalise and win by 10 points. Quins HT/FT is a decent bet also at 5/4
NAP Saint Helens -8
NB Quins ht/ft
Good luck |

Leeds V Harlequins
Big night tonight at Headingley as the 1999 Challenge Cup team are having a bash and a big crowd is expected tonight to see the greats of the game that won the cup in '99.
Leeds have an 18 point Handicap to get over and after seeing both teams respective performances last week I cant see anything other than a big Leeds win. Leeds were good last week against the Giants and and Quins were dire in the 2nd half against Hull KR, losing Danny Orr was a big loss and that was a contributing factor in that result. Orr is expected to be fit tonight and Leeds are at full strength almost and I expect them to win by 20+ points.
Saints V Bradford
This used to be one of my favourite games to watch and now the gap between the two sides couldnt be bigger. Saints have been awesome and Bradford have been awful. Mcnamara cant last much longer and The Bulls fans voted with their feet last week against Warrington and disappeared after 60 minutes. They usually take a good following to Knowsley road but Im not sure how last weeks performance will affect the turnout. Either way they are gonna get a pasting. Bradford have about 3 players that can cause saints problems whereas Saints can score from anywhere on the Pitch. If Saints turn up and decide they want to win this game by 30 points plus then they could do that very easily. I thought Id never say this but I actually feel sorry for Bradford! |

Looking on the handicap coupon this afternoon suggests the handicapper has done is home work, the two teams i would take on pure chance are Castleford and Wigan. Castleford was demolished last week against St Helens but there much better going forward than defending has recent results suggest and i doubt that Celtic will be any ware near the attacking qualities of St Helens. Celtic have struggled in there first season in super league which is understandable with the gap size between super league clubs and national championship clubs being so big but there performance against Wigan last week was not good. Wigan have struggled so far this season and have been very inconsistent but the win against Celtic last week will be a huge confidence lift and hopefully this will be a step in the right direction with the top two sides already getting beat this weekend. The concern will be that they fail to put up good performances in consecutive weeks.
PREDICTION
CASTLEFORD -8
WIGAN +4 |

This is what you call a weekend if your the ultimate rugby fan. Seven live games all in all with Salford and Harlequins kicking it all off. Salford battled hard last week against an average Hull side put to no prevail in front of there home fans and the opposition of the Quins should prove a bigger task. The Quins latest display was a demolition job of the Rhinos and if able to keep Richard Myler under wraps the -12 looks good.
Huudersfield will be trying to get there season back on track after losing there last two games and should do at the expense of Celtic but an improved display against Castleford for the welsh side may be a sign that the penny is dropping but that was in front of there home fans and they seem to struggle away from home. Leeds have been in and out of form so far this season which makes them fairly difficult to predict. Catalans are another team in and out of form and they was firmly put in there place last time by KR, but with both so unpredictable the safer option may be the +14 for the Catalans. The last team i will be putting forward for this weekend is the KR against Warrington. KR absolutely hammered Catalans last week and with Dobson on his current form they look set to put the Wolves in there place. Warrington have improved leaps and bounds in there last couple of games but one of them was against one of the worst performances of the season when they met Bradford and knowing how good that form really is only time will tell.
PREDICTIONS
HARLEQUINS -12 10/11
HUDDERSFIELD -14 10/11
CATALANS +14 10/11
HULL KR -2 10/11

ST HELENS v CATALAN DRAGONS
Handicaps look extremely hard this weekend with so many of the big teams hosting national league one sides and worse. This results in larger handicap margins but larger teams tend to rest players which makes it extremely awkward for the punter. Today it proved as Halifax traveled to Castleford, it came down to a 40m drop goal to decide the match with only fifty five seconds to play. The all super league clashes still ain't easy but there more simple to predict than, let's say peoples bankers. Saints will be a popular choice with many punters in this clash but i feel saints would have to be sixteen or more points up by half time for supporters to be comfortable and that's just to win the match if starting from scratch. Catalan's have been a revelation of coming back from the dead this season, which normally set's the roller coaster going at the start of the second half. The sixteen points on offer on the handicap look good value for the french based club, if there able to come back from a sixteen point deficit at the break which im not saying they can for sure but if it was the case then surely saints would need a thirty two point lead by half time. It's a one off game where they only have to but the effort in for eighty mins to proceed to the next round unlike the league which runs over the course of the season, this might spark life in the Catalans to fight from the first whistle and if that's the case then this could go all the way.
PREDICTION
CATALAN DRAGONS +16 10/11 StanJames
