This may be a bit early but sure what are you gonna do!!
Mark Williams v David Gilbert
Williams @ 4/9 with Stanly J
Mark Williams has been playing very well recently reaching the quarters of the UK masters and the Shanghai masters and he put in good performances all week in the Championship snooker. I have been watching him when I can and he has been looking solid all season.
This Gibert fella on the other hand hasn't done a while pile of note tbh but he did give Hendry a couple of scares in the 2007 Worlds and 2008/2009 Grand Prix although Hendry did beat him both times. Steve Davis thumped him 5-0 in the 2006/2007 Welsh Open so he knows how to lose, which is pleasing.
Williams has won this event twice before, in fairness it was years ago tbh but at the same time he is no stranger to it and the Welsh crowd should be right behind him and all that can't do any harm.
Gibert also trails Williams by 21 places in the rankings and it should show come Mon night. Stan James goes 1.44 while most of the others have him at 1.33 so he is def worth a shout I think anyway to ease through this qualifier.

Nice Write up MB
Think Williams will win this also but must admit i haven't followed the snooker much recently.
Hopefully Williams mind will be fully focused on this as in the last few years he has devoted more time to the Poker tables instead of The Green Biaze.
This been his home tournament you would imagine he will be up for this and might be worth following if he wins this 1st round in style.
Saw the Darts on Sky in the early hours of the morning,,,,,,OUCH
I would also have been very sick after Mardles finish,,,Unlucky |

Cheers SB,
Yeah his head seems to be more screwed on this time around and I think he actually may have the form to do very well in this event this year.
Ahh, don't talk to me about the darts, sickener!! _________________ -

Ali Carter V Jimmy White
Whilst this is the first time we've seen Jimmy in a tournament for quite some time, Ali has been whizzing up them rankings including an appearance in the World Championship Final. Ali is certainly one of the most improved players on the tour at the moment and has reached number 4 in the provissional rankings. I think the whirlwind will be taken apart by the Captain.
Ali to win but I fancy the generous odds of 7/1 thats on offer for a 5-0 at Bet365
Sorry Jimmy _________________ Up The 'Atters ! |

Jimmy has been playing pretty well lately, even got a 147 in an exhibition. Says he is happy with his game. _________________ Positions are available in the OLBG Lottery syndicate. Multiple lines in each draw increases chances of a jackpot. Wanna join? Please PM me for info. |

Was anyone watching Williams play?
He was absolute rubbish from start to finish. He was missing most pots and his safetys were useless aswel.
Sorry if anyone backed this. I am not a happy man. _________________ -

In fairness to Gilbert he actually played very well but Williams had more than enough chances to get into some frames and he just made a mess of it every time. Unbelievable stuff. _________________ -

I thought my luck was in after Stevens somehow fought back to win 5-4 earlier, I should've instead taken it as a hint to get out while I can lol. Just glad I avoided Allen (although I backed him on here). _________________ Michelle Larcher de Brito - World Number One 2012 (c)2008

The was a woeful performance by Williams, like it's the welsh open his country you would think he would turn and play a bit of quality snooker. Some of his misses were like what you would see down at my club and that would be the average players only
Costed me a lot tonight thought it was a banker! Stupid me |

Cheers Dammo Quirky, I was unaware that he was hitting a bit of form. Just heard that in the frame before his 147, ronnie did the same, must've been a great atmosphere. Anyways, you saved me a pound or 2..... 1-1 already. _________________ Up The 'Atters ! |
