It looks more likely that it is going to be Serena's title to lose, probably her main threat will come from the winner of the Liscki/Zvonareva matchup but she has beaten Lisicki easily this year and Zvonareva just has mental cramp when it comes to finals.

Saw pictures of Melanie Oudin currently at the US Open she used to be really petite but she has put on some pounds and it clearly isn't muscle mass more chubby instead.

The bookmakers have gone nuts Young favourite to win over Chela. Laughing

The bookmakers for some reason really love Americans who did well in one match and are playing at home. McHale too was favored to win against the more experienced Kirilenko after beating Bartoli in the last round. Ridiculous.

I thought Gilles Simon looked a big price against Del Potro, their matches have usually been pretty close, if Del Potro is truly back to his best then there is always a chance that he wins in straight sets but while his early season form was pretty hot in recent weeks he seems to have peaked...Either that or he has been saving himself for New York Very Happy

Flavia Pennetta might be able to make her experience count against Shuai Peng, the h2h is a bit old if I remember correctly but even though Peng has definitely improved by a huge amount she still lacks some of the Slam experience of Pennetta who shouldn't "bounce" after her win over Sharapova.

Have been a fan of Angelique Kerber for a while now and thought she would be a lot shorter for this match after her determined win over Radwanska...Sure Niculescu destroyed Safarova but when you look at the huge number of errors that Lucie made it sort of takes a bit of the gloss off that win and I just can't see Kerber doing the same.

Lisicki/Zvonareva looks a 50/50 match and sure to be plenty of drama, Lisicki took a huge step forward in her career at Wimbledon and looks to be in fine form in the US but she may just find that Zvonareva is a tough nut to crack on the hard courts of New York and I'd be happier backing the Russian at the odds.

Can't resist backing Maria Kirilenko to small stakes as the odds just look much too big against an opponent who was taken all the way in a marathon match by Petrova in the previous round...Kirilenko may not have the tools to beat the big guns but at times Stosur can beat herself.

Hmm see Zvonareva withdrew from a doubles match against Kirilenko/Petrova, hopefully just a precaution but makes it a match where I'll be lowering my stakes and keeping a very close eye on her as it's usually the injuries that turn her in to "Mad Vera" Cheeky

Hi guys,
2 more picks for the US Open:
WTA 4TH ROUND WOZNIACKI TO DEFEAT KUZNETSOVA @ 1.33 on Unibet
WTA QUARTERFINALS PENNETTA TO DEFEAT KERBER @ 1.4 on StanJames

Wozniacki after a conflict with her father had a poor month or so but now she proved her form last week winning a title and after 3 easy wins this week. Kuznetsova would need to hit so many winners to be able to pass an in-form Wozniacki.

Pennetta after great win over Sharapova played another great match against Peng. I saw Pennetta destroying Kerber one month ago in Bastad and in such a great form with great consistency from the baseline and very few unforced errors she is a favorite to go to the semifinals.

A little bit surprised at the odds for Carla Suarez-Navarro in her match against Andrea Petkovic, sure the German is on her way in to the top 10 while her opponent is trying to rebuild her career after injury problems but Petkovic came in to this tournament with some injury doubts herself and was pushed to the limit by Zheng and I'd expect her to have to do even more running in this match...Suarez-Navarro is not someone you'd automatically think of as a good hard court player but she has performed well at the Slams in her career and I'd be surprised if she loses in straight sets.

Going to have to back Francesca Schiavone at the odds, sure she struggled in her last match and came very close to losing in straight sets but unless she is really troubled by injury/illness then I think we will see a very different Schiavone in this match...Pavlyuchenkova pushed Schiavone all the way in Paris earlier this year and I think we might expect a similar epic encounter but she can be a bit erratic at times and not sure she can consistently beat the top players at the Slams just yet.

Really want to back Svetlana Kuznetsova to beat Caroline Wozniacki but just not sure that Kuznetsova has the belief in herself at this time and can see Wozniacki frustrating her forcing Kuznetsova to go for more and more outrageous winners but only making more errors...If, and it is a big if, Kuznetsova can keep patient and build the points then she is capable of beating Wozniacki especially in New York but the doubt remains that we won't see that Kuznetsova today.

Can't really see Ana Ivanovic causing an upset against Serena Williams and it could easily be a case of damage limitation if Serena is in a mean mood.

I just found it hilarious how Nadal just sat there not saying a word about what was happening and that it took that long for people to attend to him.

The way he was slumped on the chair and the look on his face just really gives the impression that someone was ahem pleasuring him under the table. Cheeky

Federer declares in his press conference that the 5 minute warm-up is quite frankly a waste of time and sympathizes with all those players who ve retired when he has never retired or really been injured.

Quite the contrast to Nadal who cramps up from not warming down.

Today should be the day when Flavia Pennetta finally makes it in to the last 4 of a Slam but I wouldn't be surprised if Kerber took her to 3 sets although unless Pennetta lets things get to her it's difficult to see the Italian losing.

In the other QF I'm a bit surprised to see Vera Zvonareva favourite as she didn't really have to do too much against Lisicki and was far from impressive against Medina-Garrigues...The h2h is massively in favour of Sam Stosur and perhaps it's because she has had to come through two epic matches against Petrova and Kirilenko that the odds are against her but she's one of the fittest players on tour and showed tremendous mental strength to win those matches.

It should be another 3 set epic but you'd have to think that Stosur has been tested and come through while Zvonareva can still be suspect in the mental department in big matches.

What happens to bets on murray and isner. Do we get a refund or wait until the matches are played?
