Only play poker with FTP, so now my entire bankroll is stuck there for who knows how long, possibly always. Terrible news......
Full Tilt Poker have lost their Alderney Gambling license. The news follows the announcement in April that both Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars had been closed down in the USA following an FBI investigation.
The decision by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has come into effect immediately, with all of Full Tilt's activities that are operating under their Alderney Gambling license suspended.
The AGCC said in a statement this morning: "The decision to suspend these licenses follows a special investigation prompted by the indictments unsealed by US Attorney General’s Office in the Southern District of New York on 15th April 2011, during which grounds were found to indicate that these licensees and their business associates were operating contrary to Alderney legislation."
Twitter and Facebook were quickly swamped with messages from players, with reports that all games and chat functionality has been stopped - including many tournaments which were running. Players have also been unable to withdraw funds from their accounts.
The AGCC has restricted Full Tilt Poker from doing any of the following:
•Register new customers
•Accept deposits from existing customers
•Allow existing customers to withdraw funds that are held in their accounts
•Permit customers to participate in any form of poker game play or gambling transaction
A hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday July 26th in London. |

Thats a shame.
News are popping all over the net, but nothing to concrete so far at my eyes.
First the US problem now this. It is starting to seem the beggining of the end for FullTilt (I know its a big company, but...), the problem might be the players money stucking there.
I just hope everything to go for the best and the players don't suffer for this.
Myself on the other hand fell a "little lucky". Was thinking of making my first deposit today after work, glad it wasn't tomorrow. |

Total nightmare, but seen it coming for a while now... just home and tried to log in to withdraw, but cant even open up FTP.... Im fortunate because I have been keeping my bankroll to a max of $50 - but it still sucks!
I wouldnt be quick in trusted funds with any of the 'American' market, including Stars.... best advice would be to stick to the European site _________________ Play poker with us - win the monthly league to get a €60 tournament token at Ladbrokes!

Full Tilt's webpage states:
Scheduled Maintenance In Progress
The system is currently down for maintenance. Please check back soon!
..not likely! Without a licence they cant advertise.. hopefully tho, there will be some extra special offers from other sites to lure the homeless FT players... every cloud _________________ Play poker with us - win the monthly league to get a €60 tournament token at Ladbrokes!

Funny Video
Now I'm a little lost of wich poker room to choose for my main.
Guess I should start reading about other places.
Anyone up for some ideas? I want something with a large player base.
Anyway I'm with ppl that have money there, hoping they can get it back.
Good luck. |

This seriously depressing news - just loaded some cash back in the site after withdrawing most last month - looks likely i will lose the rest and they couldn't give a toss.
So where do you suggest my modest poker stakes go now folks, any really good sites out there?? |

Totally agree MOB.. Wildbill - Im just sticking with Ladbrokes until the offers appear from other sites, but will be keeping to European based ones (at least in the short term). Having said that, PokerStars have shown that they have a little common sense and legitimacy by keeping players' bankrolls separate from their own funds, hence the reason why they have been able to refund so much. I have a feeling theres going to be a lot of scandals breaking over why certain other sites failed to do the same...
While FTP remain silent Stars has issued a statement, I guess for two reasons - quell the panic within their players & attract FTP players. Heres that statement along with..
Statement from Gambling Supervision Comission
"The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission wishes to make it clear that the licensing status of PokerStars in the Isle of Man remains unchanged following today's statement from the Gambling Control Commission in Alderney. Alderney is a separate jurisdiction from the Isle of Man and the operation in question is separate from PokerStars.
PokerStars continues to demonstrate compliance with its licence conditions in the Isle of Man. PokerStars continues to offer withdrawals to any players who wish to withdraw their funds, including players in the USA to whom PokerStars does not currently offer real-money gaming."
Official Statement from PokerStars
"In light of today’s news that Alderney Gambling Control Commission has suspended Full Tilt Poker’s license, PokerStars wishes to assure our customers that their funds are completely safe and that our operations are completely unaffected.
The Isle of Man Gaming Commission today re-affirmed that PokerStars' worldwide licensing is intact and that our operations are in full compliance with all of its requirements. PokerStars' online operations continue as normal and all funds in players’ accounts are safe and available for withdrawal as usual with no delays.
PokerStars also remains in full compliance with our licenses in other jurisdictions where we are regulated, including France, Italy and Estonia.
As provided under our licensing, PokerStars has always maintained the integrity and security of our players’ funds, by keeping all such funds in segregated bank accounts, always available for immediate withdrawal.
Since the actions of US Department of Justice in April, we have returned more than $120 million to US players and continue to act upon requests as they are received. Players outside the US have not been affected and all cash-outs have been processed without delays. Further, PokerStars entered into an agreement with the Department of Justice which expressly confirmed the company’s ability to operate outside the US.
We will continue to operate as a responsible corporate citizen and are committed to serving the needs of our customers in complete compliance with our regulatory requirements." _________________ Play poker with us - win the monthly league to get a €60 tournament token at Ladbrokes!

Been on Ladbrokes and comparing their Heads Up to FTP is a little disappointing. Their definition of a 'normal' game is 10 hands per level, which equates to a turbo luck out Still hunting for new room then.
On a brighter note all may not be lost. I recommend reading Scott Matusow's (Mike's brother) blog.
He raises a couple of interesting points:- a) Phil Ivey has withdrawn his controversial statement from his website b) Jack Binion has expressed an interest in buying out Ray Bitar at FTP.
There certainly seems to be a momentum building to get the legislation introduced in America to allow the sites to return.
So for the above reasons I think theres a very good chance that a solution will be found and hopefully for the benefit of the players, not the bosses who have mismanaged it. It would be a disgrace and fatal for the players if they were allowed to simply declare themselves bankrupt. _________________ Play poker with us - win the monthly league to get a €60 tournament token at Ladbrokes!

Heres a statement Victor Chandler emailed me:
As you may or may not have heard, Full Tilt Poker has had its licence to operate suspended by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission and has been ordered to cease all operations with immediate effect and until further notice.
News of this nature can often lead to questions about the safety and security of the wider online poker industry and so we would like to take this opportunity to inform you that this action has been taken by the AGCC in relation to the previous action against Full Tilt by the US Department of Justice, an investigation into which indicated that Full Tilt and associates were operating contrary to the Alderney legislation, and has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the operations of Victor Chandler Poker and/or the validity of online poker in general. We emphasise that the decision of the AGCC only affects players on Full Tilt Poker.
Victor Chandler is fully licensed in Gibraltar and complies with the rules and regulations stipulated by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority. As such, Victor Chandler is in no danger of being compromised by these latest events and we would reassure you that your funds, privacy and gaming experience remain 100% secure at Victor Chandler Poker.
You can find more details on the action taken by the AGCC at the AGCC website.
In the meantime we would like to thank you for your continued patronage of Victor Chandler Poker with a “Wild West Week” comprising over €350,000 in guaranteed prize pools where all guarantees will be doubled and with a special €30,000 Guarantee Wild West taking place on July 10th in addition to the regular schedule.
