I think Dave Nevison would be ideal for C4.....
At least he knows whats what when it comes to punting..
Maybe Harry Findley and a Nevison combo .... _________________ Always Trying..... |

I have to say I am not a fan of Clare Balding.
The existing format that C4 have for presenting live racing is a pain as far as I am concerned, I find Cattermole and Emma irritating and there banter lends very little to understanding or appreciating the racing. I also get fed up with the channel constantly telling you what is coming up next week rather than concentrating on what racing is happening now. I also am fed up of watching awards to winners.
I like Big Mac, Francombe and McGrath. |

Well done c4 getting Claire Balding.
She will liven up the programme, hope Claire also
get her mate with her Willie Carson, fill he be lost,
without Claire.
Agree about cattermole and Emma they quite irritating
tend not to watch it when they on.
Lesley Graham and Claire be great team.
John Francombe is great to, be glad also when Tommo
get back, hope Tommo is recovering well,as he great to. |

Findlay would never do it unfortunately, but Nevison I think could be persuaded and he would be excellent. A proper form student and an articulate bloke as well.
Like turf, I also think that I would miss Big Mac if he were gone, although you have to take everything he says with a large pinch of salt.
Unlike turf though, I am a fan of Balding... maybe not from a sporting angle, but she won a lot of fans over the Olympics I think and she would be a good anchor to try to bring new people in.
As for the rest, I honestly could take them or leave them although I think Francombe is good for the odd inappropriate comment every now and then!

I think channel 4 had a golden opportunity to take racing forward. With new strong personalities and an improved format. Instead let's dig out the failed BBC presenters.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Used to be unmissable but think certain aspects could be improved, but they probably have a wide cross section of viewers so are careful not to alienate novices or viewers new to racing with jargon.
However i did think lots of the Olympic coverage focused on the "experts" who overall did a great job - Thorpe, Johnson, etc and maybe there could be more in depth from the racing "experts". _________________ Community Manager - Win A Forum Reward This Month.

C4 racing has been good viewing at times, especially the Morning Line, but some of the presenters don't add anything to the programs, imo. Lesley Graham is just 'chatty'. Alistair Down is a briliant journalist, but that editorial skill doesn't lend itself to presenting. Nick Luck is so-so, while Emma and Catt spend too much time looking into each others eyes (watch them next time!), plus their chat often gets banal and off topic.
Big Mac is Big Mac. People either love him or truly hate him. He's knowledgable but boorishly opinionated, and I'm now tired of all the nickanmes he uses for the others. If he wasn't there I wouldn't complain.
The only true pro is Jim McGrath, but it depends if you want a factual, informative, racing program or one that has some entertainment value too. Francome, as an ex-jock, is a very good post-race commentator. He gets some success with pre-race picks and he does have a good jockeys-eye for a horse and its condition. I often listen to some of the things he says about horses without actually tipping them. He and McGrath gel well in the pre and post race chat.
If the new setup calls for a more factual, informative approach, then Claire Balding will fit into that, as will McGrath, Francome, Stevenson, Carson if he comes along, and the likes of Big Mac and Tommo will lose out. Rishi Prasad should def not be there, and neither should Parrott and his partner the BBC Big Mac (forget his name at the moment). _________________ ----

A word about Jim McGrath on C4 that many may not know about...Jim McGrath is the most success-full punter there is over the years on C4 he has won life changing money, and a very good buisness-man to boot.
Jim McGrath is one of the most Knowledgable Horse racing pundits there is, and i know this as a fact, a very decent chap. _________________ Trading or Betting Blogs & System section Daily Lays
