I see Paul Webber's highly regarded and well-bred Devon Drum holds several entries over the weekend, including the Listed bumper at Newbury on Friday and a very good bumper at Ascot on Saturday. However, he would have to go some to win either of those, and I'd much prefer to see him line up in the newcomers' bumper at Wetherby next Tuesday. Looking forward to his debut outing, wherever he turns up.

Tom Tate has an extremely interesting newcomer entered for the bumper at Newcastle next Tuesday called Flamingo Cay.

He is a Tiger Hill half brother to smart 7f-1m winner Polar Ben and Yorkshire Cup winner Franklins Gardens among others.

Connections have had one or two nice types in recent times in this sphere, perhaps most notably 2010 Musselburgh bumper debut winner Tale Of Tanganyika.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing him in action next week, though he'll probably suffer a setback and not run a la Devon Drum, Noble Silk, Cops And Robbers etc. Rolleyes (Sarcasm)

Does anyone have any updates for this month? I suppose I should look in the other horse betting threads.

A couple of interesting looking bumpers at Stratford and Uttoxeter this weekend.

The Emma Lavelle trained Water Wagtail, a half brother to connections' smart hurdler/bumper debut winner Kentford Grey Lady, holds an entry in the bumper at Stratford, though Jeremy Scott's Florida Quays looks interesting on account of his pedigree and the fact the yard took it last year with Josh's Dreamaway (also recently sent out an impressive winning newcomer at Chepstow).

By far the most interesting runner in the mares' bumper at Uttoxeter is the Tom Symond's trained Royal Present, a Presenting half sister to this season's impressive bumper winner/Listed runner-up Village Vic out of a winner under both codes who was a half sister to very useful jumper Spring Margot, himself a debut winner in this sphere. Montbazon's half sister Ussee shaped nicely on her debut before finding a valuable sales race coming too soon last time; likely to be better suited by the step back in grade against her own sex.

I dearly hope Sword Of Honour takes up his engagement at Fairyhouse on Bank Holiday Monday. He is a son of the the late Montjeu who is out of top-class middle distance performer My Emma, and he strolled clear of his rivals in a summer bumper at Killarney last August, never having to come off the bridle to win as he pleased.

It appears he has been kept away from the slow ground throughout the winter months, and it seems this race will be his prep run for the Champion Bumper at Punchestown towards the end of the month. I have yet to see a more exciting bumper prospect this season. It looks a decent field as well, so he should have his credentials fully tested if the likes of Ange Blanc and Pique Sous stand their ground.

Horse to follow, as his second in the RSA showed his true level of form after some below par efforts on bad ground in Ireland. He will turn out to be a true Gold Cup contender next season as his stable have always thought of him. He probably would have won the RSA had he not run too freely and had to make his own running at a crucial stage of the race. One to follow for the season for me!
