|
|
|
We have listened to all the feedback members have given us and now propose the below changes to the OLBG Tipster Competitions and prize allocations from 1st September 2012
This is a starting point and we will be making changes in the future based on a balance between demand, supply, incentives for specific areas we want to expand and of course your valuable feedback.
TOTAL CASH PRIZE MONEY AVAILABLE MONTHLY
Was - £3265 http://www.olbg.com/tables/prizes.php
Now (from 1 Sept) - £5000 http://www.olbg.com/tables2/prizes.php
TOTAL PRIZES AVAILABLE
Was - 280
Now - 593
FREE BET PRIZE MONEY
Was - Varied, often £500, sometimes £1000
Now - £2500 + a month
MONTHLY COMMENT COMPETITIONS OPEN TO ALL
Was - None
Now - £3500, open to all with football spread accross more comps and golf, rugby and cricket having seperate comps too.
MONTHLY PRO TIPSTER LEAGUES
Was - £800 spread accross Footy, Racing, Tennis, US Sports and other sports compbined
Now - £1500 with addition of golf pros comp
EVENT SPECIFIC COMMENT COMPS
Was - Cheltenham Festival for horse racing, Euros, World Cups for football, occasional others
Now - LOADS MORE, spread much more around the sports for example this could include Twenty20 Cricket World Cup, Ryder Cup Golf, Snooker UK Championships, World Darts, NFL Play Offs, Australian Open Tennis, Six Nations Rugby etc.. We are still working on the list but focus will be on popular major events accross the sports.
FORUM CHALLENGES
No change, we will still give out lots of cash prizes through the various fun forum challenges
TEAM COMPS
Was - £150
Now - Just for fun.
BLOGGERS
Was - £800 of tip comment comps restricted to those who had shown a history of writing good content on the site and were spotted by us. (sorry if you didnt get spotted and included, we havent been great at this, one of the reasons for the changes)
Now - bloggers can carry on receiving rewards for tip comments of course, it is just open for all with more prize money to share (£3500 v £800). Bloggers will also have the additional opportunity to run their own blogs on OLBG which will give much more flexibility as to what they can write. These wont be tip comment collections, but general blogs. £1000 of prize money will be shared amongst the bloggers. In the future other members who want to write their own blog on OLBG will be able to apply. They will need to have shown a history of writing quality content on OLBG.
QUESTIONS
Please add any more in the thread below and we will try to answer you.
Why Change? What are you trying to achieve?
We want to grow OLBG. We are investing more cash to try to increase the quality content on the site and make it a better place for all of us.
Why do Football/Horse Racing get more cash?
They are way more popular than the other sports. More people want to see tips and content and more of you want to provide that.
My sport doesnt get as much prize money as another sport or doesnt have its own league, Why?
It isnt currently as popular on OLBG. We would love to grow the content and members contributing to all sports. We hope the key event competitions will help with this.
As the demand for tips/content in specific sports increases we can look at increasing the prize money/expanding the competitions.
I dont want free bets/havent got an account with that bookie/have been restricted with that bookie etc.
As with the current free bet comps, you can only enter these/show in the tables if you have an account with the bookie giving the free bets and you have entered the details in the OLBG MyBookies area. If you dont want to win a free bet with the bookie attached to a particular competion/sport then your alternatives are to try and win a comment cash prize or to try and get into a pro tipster league and challenge for cash prizes there. Dont forget all the fun forum comps for cash prizes too.
Can I still donate to the awesome OLBG Charity Scheme?
Cash prizes, yes just as before. You cant donate free bets though.
Whats a good comment?
We have set up a thread here to discuss that - http://www.olbg.com/forum/topic5_42060.html
I'm not at all happy with this!!
Sorry you feel that way, please let us know why in as calm and constructive way as possible. We do listen and many of our origional plans have changed after member feedback. We wont always be able to keep everyone happy but we'll try our best! |

Considerately, well thought out expansion plan.
OLBG should be applauded in the way they have brought these changes to the table, taken on board as many member opinions as possible and kept the plans fluid up to the point of final decision.
For sure OLBG is only going to be a better and fairer place to be subsequent to these improvements

I was heavily involved in the original thread but it appears OLBG have came up with an excellent balance here. So great work.
One question regarding the comments? If I tip 100 horses a month and comment on 25, do I get -1 for every tip without a comment (like the cheltenham and Ascot comps) or is your LSP solely worked out on tips with comments? |

| The comment comps ignore tips without comments so you wouldnt get -1 so in your example your LSP would be worked out on the 25 with comments (assuming the comments have enough words to count) |

I am excited about the changes proposed and have been one of a number of people who has been listened to by OLBG when it came to feedback on their plans.
It is absolutely amazing the increase in prize money fund and free bet totals. It's not a small increase - it's a HUGE increase - and that type of cash can't just be plucked out of the air. The way OLBG has been run and managed must be applauded, and the site has come on leaps and bounds in just the couple of years that I've been here, with race sponsorship at Cheltenham and the St. Leger meeting two of the biggest coups in my view. But the best news of all is that OLBG remains FREE for all us members!
Well done on this, Anthony and all, and thanks for listening to what we all had to say. No doubt there will be more changes as you tweak the comps and possibly the structure to meet the demand and reality that is ahead, but this is all great news for all of us.
Roll on Sept 1st, although I probably won't win anything _________________ ----

A good revised structure and I am looking forwards to participating from September in what is going to be an enhanced and refreshed OLBG site.
Many thanks OLBG. _________________ My Strategy Blogs - http://www.olbg.com/blogs/blogger.php?c=47&id=30141&m=&y= |

Can I just add my congratulations to OLBG on a job well done
You were prepared to listen to all queries & questions regarding the changes and you took on board all our opinions. For that, I commend you
I don't think anyone can question OLBG when it comes to fairness and long may it continue
Oh.....the prizes aren't half bad either |

Attitude
I am quite sure I read somewhere that all comps (from September onwards) will be settled by LSP
Edit...
http://www.olbg.com/tables2/prizes.php
Yep, Comps will be settled by LSP from now on.
Click on the gold icon on the right-hand side (under rules) and it will show what is needed to qualify for a prize.
Best of Luck |
