onead set the original chat thread up and it has lasted 5 years but we felt
after 447 pages it was due its retirement. So we have a shiny new chat thread for the new season
The idea behind this thread is exactly the same - in order to keep the Daily Selections and Daily Discussion threads clean of bascially worthless posts and for those good indepth tips to be given pride of place in those daily threads we want to introduce a general chat thread, well here it is.
This will, we hope further the online football community. A few pointers to note below:
Yes
Any general comments, well done stories, hard luck stories, moans , groans and just general footy chat as you would have over a beer after a match with your mates.
No
Tips, selections, fighting,

It has been on and off all day I managed to get a couple up earlier for Leagues 1 & 2 (promotion) but the feed keeps reverting back to Top Goal Scorer only |

Like the new chat thread, yes needed a new page
after 447 pages, and it derseved a good retirement..
Cant wait footie season getting closer by each day,and
hope we have more twists and turns like last season.
Man.City will there again, defending their crown.
Man.Utd Could go close, if they capture Robin Van Persie.
Chelsea: sure to try break up the both Mancheste clubs , after interesting
signings.
Arsenal sure be in the top 4 again, with or without RVP.
Be interesting to see how Swansea And Norwich cope, with their 2nd season,
both teams with new managers.
Aston Villa Be in teresting to see how Paul Lambert gets on to.
Hope everyone has good season.. |

Its going to be ......
Prem Man utd
Championship .leeds Utd
Dont like either but they have the best managers both worth 10 points start and that makes the double decent value _________________ What dont kill ya makes ya stronger |

I'm thinking of having a specific football betting bank this season, with a bit of structure to it. Anyway, just thought I would point out that in the Premier League, there is on paper, a real top 6/7. During the last 4 seasons, the following 6 teams have all finished in the top 8 every season (this may be a bit of a no-brainer, but it's still pretty interesting that the Premier League has been so predictable):
Top 8 last 4 seasons 100%:
Man Unt
Chelsea
Arsenal
Tottenham
Everton
Liverpool
You would imagine that this now becomes 7 teams, since Man City have finished in the top 8 for the past 3 seasons and they can surely be added to the list above. Perhaps Everton are a bit of surprise to finish in the top 8 every season, but with Moyes at the realm, you'd be brave to suggest this is down to chance? There is the chance that a team like Newcastle could leaver out one of the 'big boys' such as Everton or perhaps Tottenham, but many teams have demonstrated that they have the capacity to have a good season, and then not go forward.
If we suggest that the top 6/7 will remain stable, then theoretically that leaves half a dozen or so teams to take a spot in the top 8 (Newcastle, Villa, Fulham have been the three during the past 4 seasons); one season Villa and Fulham where both in the top 8, but that was before Man City became part of the elite.
So, will the top 8 be, in no logical order:
Man Unt
Chelsea
Arsenal
Tottenham
Everton
Liverpool
+ 1 team
One of main reasons for looking at this trend, is trying to look at Patterns to find some consistency when it comes to making selections. Thus, while each of these teams could have a better/worse record than last season, it's worth looking at how they performed home/away, when looking to bet on the forthcoming season (as an example, Man United are very unlikely to lose more than 2 Premier League games at home; last 4 seasons they have lost 0 games two seasons, 1 game one season, and 2 games on the other 2 seasons); that doesn't mean they win them all and so are value LSP for the win, or that it's value to Lay the away team, but they sure as heck do not lose many).

just seen RVP better fav to be man utd top scorer as a gooner i can tell you he will be injured for most of the season as he has been in 8 out of 9 years last year aside so bet of the season has to be evs rooney to score more than RVP @ evs _________________ What dont kill ya makes ya stronger |
