|
|
|
The last 11 Premiership Top Scorers have played for a team that have finished in the top 4, 10 of them played for a team that finished in the top 3. In 8 of those 11 seasons the Premiership top scorer was his team’s first choice penalty taker. This means we are most likely looking for the penalty taker of a top 3 team in order to find this season’s Premiership top scorer.
I wouldn't have thought that I'd want to back Wayne Rooney here but he is the solid choice. He has finished second in the scoring charts in two of the last three seasons and he had a better goals per game ratio than RVP last season and I can't see RVP playing 38 games again this season if he stays in the Premiership.
Reports have suggested that RVP has signed a contract at Juve, I'm not sure I believe that but he could well move abroad and that would see many of the favourites shorten.
We'll have a clearer picture about the top scorer in the Premiership this season in a week or two I guess but I think there is a little bit of early value to be had now. |

At this early stage i am tempted by the 25/1 on offer for Papiss Cisse, especially with first 4 being the EW places.
He was a revelation for the Toon after he joined them in January and although he finished the season with a couple of goalless games he still finished 11th and scored 13 league goals last season from only 14 league games played |

i would be wary of Van Persie this season, he will either be at a new club with new tactics and not every pass will be played to him, or reluctantly still at Arsenal where he may not feel comfortable.
Suarez at 16/1 to me looks value if Brendan Rogers can hit the ground running and get his ideas across quickly. I think Liverpool are going to have a good season and i expect a compeltly different style of play with the reliance on Gerrard waining - which ultimately may make him an even better player.
Brendan Rogers is an advocate of total football with responsibility shared around all 11 players. They will be trying to put the chances on a plate for the strikers and Suarez will be the main benificiary.
2011/12 Top Goalscorers
Van Persie 30
Rooney 27
Aguero 23
Dempsey
Adebayor 17
Yakubu 17
Ba 16
Holt 15
Dzeko14
Balotelli 13
Cisse 13 |

| Tevez is GREAT value or a sneaky one on Defoe at 67 with BetVictor if Spurs fail to sign another striker. |

| Quite fancy Torres to be a hit this season with the goals and may take the 11/1 offered by BetVictor...not the biggest of odds but with Chelsea's summer signings and without Drogba, Anelka & Kalou this season, I can see Torres being a big threat!! |

I won't be having a serious bet until I find out what happens with RvP, his proposed move to United could make things interesting. I like Micko do like the chances of Papa CISSE. Newcastle rely on their strikers for goals, and he was incredible after they signed him from Freiburg, and 25/1 looks like a good value bet.... My money will be on Sergio AGUERO though. I think City are going to storm it this year, scoring lots of goals on the way, and surely he will be the key man. He's had enough time now to get used to the tempo of the English game, and feel that he can really push on this year and get the top scorer accolade. 8s is a nice little price, so will have a chunk on that, then a saver on PDC. Also think Defoe could be interesting as he's a top finisher, one of the most natural ones around, but it all depends on whether AVB will give him enough game time. Podolski also gives a few thoughts, consistent at both Bayern and Cologne - not to mention International level, and if he finds his feet quickly, could be a decent bet. _________________ brewsty39 |

| Brewster, i was also looking at Podolski but no sure whether Wenger will play him up front or on the wing, if he plays on the wing i think he might struggle to get double figures |

I wouldn't go for a top goalscorer from United or City because they have a lot of people that could do the scoring and a big possibility that most of the goals by the league favourites will be spread by different people. That's probably the reason Robin Van Persi was top goalscorer last year, because he was the only Arsenal player that could actually score a goal lol! All passes were forwarded to him and he had no other option but to score. I think when going for a top scorer a weaker team with very few classy attackers and one big star should be considered most, because all passes will be towards that attacker and he'll have a lot more shots towards goal than other attackers. _________________ Check out my OLBG profile with reason behind each tip starting from 9 August. - http://www.olbg.com/tipster/index.php?id=238472 |

There is another African Nations Cup in January next year so if Senegal qualify Ba and Cisse will be missing again for a few matches.
Not a stick on as they meet Ivory Coast in the 2 legged qualifier but if they do bear the above info in mind. _________________ @ KanKeano_OLBG | Twitter |

I would suggest holding your bets on this market until nearer the start of the season.
Spurs are still (apparently) trying to sort out a deal for Adebayor and also (if you believe the reports) trying to sign Damaio from Inter.
If either or both of these come off then the market will doubtless look considerably different. |

My only choice for top scorer is Darren Bent. Mr consistency and Villa will get a cross in at every opportunity under Paul Lambert.
Rooney or Aguero are the obvious choices but Bent represents value at 28/1 |

I've also got Shaun Maloney on board to be Wigan's top scorer (TS) at 16/1.
Mark Langdon recommended him in today's Racing Post season pullout. He quoted 25/1. 16s still value with Moses possible move and Maloney should be on penalty duty.
8 or 9 goals could be enough to be Wigan's TS and that is surely within Maloney's compass. |
