2012 Olympics Football Odds

It seems that Brazil have most of the stars, Neymar is in the side and he is one of the hottest young talents in football and they also have the likes of Hulk, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Sandro, Ganso, Oscar, Lucas Moura and Alexandre Pato. On paper they have the strongest team but I don't think Brazil have done much as a team in recent years and they seem a bit underpriced to me.

Instead I prefer the chances of Spain who will play as a team and they have three players who tasted success at Euro 2012 in their squad (Javi Martinez, Juan Mata and Jordi Alba). They should have one of the strongest keepers at the Olympics (David De Gea) which is important and they are hardly short on quality with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Alvaro Dominguez, Cristian Tello, Oriol Romeu and Iker Muniain all involved.

I can't have England at all, the senior side is nothing to write home about and the quality of youngster coming through doesn't look good enough, Danny Rose made the squad which proves that point!

Any thoughts/tips on this? Anyone taking an interest in the women's event?

Senegal to beat Great Britain @ 5/1

The Great Britain squad for the Olympics was sort of thrown together at the last minute and they have hardly had any time to gel as a team.

They were beaten easily 2-0 by Brazil in their only game together before the Olympics and might well struggle to get out of the group.

Senegal have been together for quite a while, since March 2011 although some of the players have changed around.

They had to qualify for the African Under23 Championships and when they qualified they were placed in the same group as Morrocco, Nigeria & Algeria.

Although they lost their opening game 1-0 against Algeria they then beat Nigeria & Morrocco to top the group and qualify for the semi finals.

They lost against Gabon in the semi finals and lost the 3rd place play off match.

They had to play a play off to confirm their place at the Olympics and they beat Oman by 2 goals to 0.

Since then they have played 2 friendlies and kept clean sheets in both, they beat Spain 2-0 in Spain and then beat Switzerland 1-0

Fully in agreement with Micko70 about backing Senegal. Team GB seems to have been cobbled together, although that was always going to be the case, with the need to keep all of the home nations sweet.

One of our only positives in world football is team spirit when you represent your country, this Olympic amalgamation cant ultimately call on this team spirit.

But ultimately its the ridiculous short price on offer for Team GB, im sure all of us can find better 4/7 or 8/13 shots on a daily basis.

Brazil's first choice goalkeeper, Rafael Cabral, is ruled out of the Olympics. Fiorentina's Neto will be the first choice keeper, but he's uncapped at the international level and does not get many games for his club Fiorentina (I think he has played 2 since signing in January 2011.)
