Also posted this in the Blog section but feel it will get more attention here. Have a read and see what you think.
Last season one thing I really think this site was missing was a full preview of the Lower Leagues in English football. Now, I won't lie, if I started trying to write up 72 previews covering The Championship, League One and League Two I would probably get 9 or 10 write ups in and give up as it is so much work for 1 person to complete. So I am proposing the following:
Come the end of July I won't to obtain the support of 23 other OLBG members. I am putting this idea up now to see if this is something we can get to work. Last season there was a thread for 'Outright Selections' but we had no full preview of the Lower Leagues confirming such things as:
- Last seasons stats (Home/Away).
- Summer Transfers (Players In/Players Out).
- Manager Preview.
- Player profiles (Clubs key players and areas in their squad where they are strong). To help us during the season evaluate injury news and how important this is.
- Derby matches coming up throughout the season and their record in these matches.
- Many other things on top of the above. Just wanted to list a few.
If we create a database of all 72 League Clubs it will help others build a similar knowledge to the knowledge they have on the Premiership clubs.
My proposal is for 23 other members to join me in 2 months to complete 3 full club profiles each (One club each from the Championship, One Club each from League One and the same in League Two). Once we complete these it will help us evaluate Title Contenders, Promotion Outsiders and Relegation Contenders.
All you need is a knowledge of the sport and the patience to study the 3 clubs you are selected in full detail.
If there is no real take off to this, I will try my best to complete 72 previews. But I can't promise anything.
Peace

LP
I would very happy to help out here.
Direction would be the key from you so when you are ready to dish out the clubs please let me know all the headings and pointers I need to look for so I can supply a uniform response.
This is a great idea - portfolios are the most profitable but obviously take the longest time to generate the return (hopefully) but also create flexibility should another unpicked team show top of the table form.
I have noticed a decline of input to the soccer threads over the last couple months - perhaps this is normal - but by using this to get other members involved could see a constant for information and ultimately, assistance in making and agreeing that the pick.

Cracking idea lads. I'd be more than willing to help LP.
I have pretty much the same questions as Murt. Just let us know which clubs and what sort of info you want and I'll get on with it. Would be beneficial to have an idea of which clubs I'm covering in the next week or two so we can get a thorough feeling and review of the side. |

I am up for this great idea LP if only to save you from having to do all 72 previews!
Although I have no particular alignment to any of the smaller clubs, being based in Somerset it would be easier for me to get better info on Bristol City and Yeovil but I really am happy to do any teams especially if someone has more detailed knowledge about one of the teams I've mentioned. |

Yep like the idea, would be happy to do 3 write ups! I support bristol rovers so would be best suited to them from league 1. Again it would be a good idea to set out the type of info you're looking for so the write ups are comparable between different teams and posters |

This is good lads. 7 already.
Yea I suppose we can dish out the teams in a couple of weeks. I personally don't mind who I am left with. My local club is Gillingham so it would make sense to take them.
Regarding the previews. I will set some guidelines but they don't have to be followed to the exact. Some members may add in extra pieces here than there which will be good.
As some people have already done, may be an idea to list some teams you think you would have an advantage writing a preview on. And I will try to make sure everyone gets the teams they want.
Will post up the leagues in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully we get a few more members interested.
Thanks for the support so far people. This will be extremely useful come next season _________________ X-Factor 2011 Record:

| My local sides are Bradford, Leeds and Huddersfield. They would be easiest ones for me to do but I don't mind any. |

| Sounds good and I'm more than happy to help - clubs I have most knowledge on: Coventry City (local, sadly..), MK Dons, Southampton and Notts County (all following bet-wise throughout the season). Don't mind researching and analysing any other teams though! |

Good good. 11 now including Jmalloy and T.A.D.
In an ideal world Millwall will get promoted next week then I will have Millwall, Charlton and Gillingham as my local clubs and this covers all 3 divisions.
I have set up a list of information I feel we will need come next season. But i will run this past a few punters I know just to double check I haven't missed anything out or anything I have added that isn't really important.
As T.A.D has said, I hope the thread will be made a sticky by OLBG once completed.
Hopefully the only reason we only have 11 is because a lot of people haven't read the thread yet. If we are still short in a few weeks time I will reach out to the 'One A Day Thread' aswel.
I have high hopes for this. A Football League Database will certainly give us an advantage come next season and I look forward to it _________________ X-Factor 2011 Record:
