South Africa v Mexico
South Africa possibly the weakest hosts of the tournament
Currently ranked 90th by Fifa
Have won a couple of Friendlies v Jamaica & Thailand recently & drawn with other qualifiers Korea DR
Mexico
Ranked 17, eternal qualifiers from ConCaCaf
After a spell under "Sven" where it looked like they might fail to qualify
They are now 10 unbeaten, last defeat v Colombia in Dallas, last Sept
I know the hosts to date have always qualified from the group but feel this could well change this summer
Mexico will see this as their easiest group game
Mexico currently 2.62 & 1.88 AH 0 |

Good spot although you may have the match officials against you. The WC in '02 had a bit of that going on, Italy's 'offside' goal in particular comes to mind. _________________ -

Yes, I forgot to factor the Ref in on opening match & Hosts
I do remember 2002, decisions were appalling
Would like to think any dodgy decision for SA would be against France ! |

I concur!!
Don't let me put you off that bet though at the same time as I'm considering the AH myself but I won't be too hasty just yet, plenty of time. _________________ -

I think this will be a draw, the scenario points that way with the quality of Mexico clashing against the home atmosphere _________________ http://www.olbg.com/blogs/SmoggyFever

Well... you can get around 2.10 for both teams to score... might be a good bet...
with Mexico being the better team and SA having the advantage of playing at home ... |

| Having seen Mexico in the flesh last night I was quite impressed, but I'm still undecided what to plump for. They are a great attacking side and very confident on the ball, but seem a little shaky at the back at times and the keeper looks prone to a wobble. Not sure whether this will be exploited by South Africa, but with question marks over Mexico's travelling effectiveness, I think I will be erring towards Mexico DNB @ 10/11 currently available with William Hill |

| Thanks for pointing that out Rosler. Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Will certainly be backing them to progress from the group and certainly give the French something to think about |
