Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens this month with the celebrity contestants announced in the launch show this Friday evening.
The series will start in earnest from the 5th October.
Rumours are rife on the internet as to who may or may not be appearing. Here are just a few of the names who have been mentioned at some point. If you can add anymore please feel free to get involved:
Kimberly Walsh
Beth Tweddle
Rebbecca Adlington
Ronnie O’Sullivan
Steve Redgrave
Nicky Byrne
Sian Williams
Michael Vaughan
Davina McCall
Charlie Brooks (from Eastenders, not the former trainer!)
Johnny Ball
Victoria Pendleton
Jerry Hall
Sid Owen
Chris Evans
The Shark
SCD may not be everyone’s cup of tea but is a great show from a punting point of view as the majority of the ‘runners’ can be eliminated from a few straightforward trends. More to follow on that.
If you have any information on SCD 2012 please add here |

Sorry Garlic - that'll teach me to not trust what you read on the internet without double checking
Latest info I can find suggests 630pm on 15th September is the launch date.
Also, Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer looks to be on the show after a BBC spokesman confirmed she has been booked. |

Launch show is on 15th sept, no doubt the voting begins the week after like last year?
I thought Ronnie was getting back on the snooker circuit? Looking forward to seeing Michael Vaughn is that's true!
There's a launch trailer on YouTube with the judges. |

Four firms have gone up with a list of runners so perhaps there has been a leak? Most of the names were as expected but two or three new ones:
Denise Van Outen
Kimberley Walsh
Louis Smith
Nicky Byrne
Dani Harmer
Michael Vaughan
Victoria Pendleton
Richard Arnold
Fern Britton
Jerry Hall
Johnny Ball
Sid Owen
I have already gone in on Denise Van Outen @ 5/1 with Coral. She has loads of dancing experience from musicals and the sort of personality that will likely endear her to the public. Whatever happens that is too big a price. Kimberley Walsh looks the obvious danger at first glance given she too will have had plenty of dancing training in her Girls Aloud days but that may not mean she can translate it to some of the more technical dances.
Of the others Victoria Pendleton interests me as she will be used to the discipline of training and is obviously very determined.
Anyone else got any early fancies? |

As sportsmen have a strong history in the competition, Louis Smith could be an interesting bet.
Being a gymnast he will have a lot of the technical skills required and he has been a bit of a housewife favourite during the Olympics.
I take it if you bet and they aren't in the competition you receive your money back? |

Look like Ronnie O Sullivan and Davina not in it now.
I like Fern Brittain and Micheal Vaughan as like watching cricket.
Jerry Hall could be interesting for a small flutter. |

I rarely watch this show, do the best dancers usually win or is it more a case of being popular with the public no matter what you dance like?
If the best dancer wins then yes Denise Van Outen would surely be the most likely winner, if not then after the euphoria of the Olympics and it also being on BBC Victoria Pendleton could win. |

Tracy Beaker all the way
Michael Vaughan got to be worth a shout, I actually know the guy... correction, I know someone called Michael Vaughan who once got in to a pretty fancy restaurant with a long waiting list at short notice because he said he wanted to book a meal with someone he had flying over from South Africa, they found him a table that night when someone cancelled and must have been devastated when a Wirral guy turned up with a friend who had been on a business trip
Cricketers haven't done too badly on the show, so he's probably a bit overpriced in my eyes |
