Well, what can be said about last night's match. Gayle did it again with 85 from 52 and what a supporting role from Pollard with 63 from 32! Big talk about the injuries New Zealand suffered though - Hira's dislocated finger from trying to catch a Chris Gayle thunderstroke was probably the pick of the bunch but it's Ross Taylor's shoulder injury that interests me. With him missing from the line up New Zealand's batting looks even weaker than it did. Although Guptil is one of the finest T20 batsmen around he hasn't got much support and if he fails (as he did last night) the support could mop up. It's that 'what if' that I'm prepared to gamble on and Doug Bracewell top New Zealand runscorer @ 100/1 with Paddy Power looks a crazy price.
11 from 5 not out last night will have done his confidence no harm and his T20 record stacks up pretty well - an average of 29.9 (though this is largely helped by his not outs) tells its own story and domestically he's been bang in form with innings of 17*, 37 (from 22 balls), 7, 36* (from 17), 35* (from 26), 27* (from 12) as his last 6 domestic T20 innings with the fifth of those knocks being the top scoring for his side. It's obvious he's capable and powerful and while many are backing Tim Southee to be the lower order hitter promoted up the line I think gambling on Bracewell could well pay dividends. _________________ on Twitter as @AndyLoganTips |

Shame that, but I can't believe New Zealand left him so late especially in that situation. _________________ on Twitter as @AndyLoganTips |
