So the US Open is just about here, what do we all fancy?
Rafa Nadal would have been a strong pick for me had he been fit as he has a great record here in recent years. In Rafa’s absence I’m going to have to side with current champ Djokovic for win purposes, he’s quite simply the best player at the moment and has been there and done it as for as the US Open is concerned.
I think Andy Murray’s Olympic victory is going to do a lot for his mental state and I can see him flourishing in Nadal’s absence and I make Murray the main danger to Djokovic but doubt that he’ll finally get his head in front here.
In the women’s event Serena Williams is clearly the one to beat in current form and I might do a favourites double on the men’s and women’s events but as far as a single goes in this event I’m looking at Caroline Wozniacki. She reached the final here in 2009 and might be better than recent performances so at 66/1 I think she could be a bit of value, and I’ll give strong consideration to trading it if she goes down to around 20/1 at any point in the tournament.
Any matches that have caught anyone's eye? What are the best bets at this year's US Open? |

| There might be a bagel fest in Federer's first match when he plays Donald Young who only just snapped a 17 match losing streak. |

Anyone think S Lisicki is worth a nibble at 200/1?
Any reason why she may be this price? Is she carrying injury? |

I agree that Murraynhas the best chance ever of winning a slam because as stated mentally he should be on a high, and with Nadal missing and Djokovic not firing like he was the tournement looks there for the taking.
The price though is on the skinny side at a general 7/2.
Williams looks unopposable in the woman's. _________________ www.twitter.com/overthefence200

Very little value in the mens draw, Djok should reach the final but at just over evens and not at his peak make him unappealing.
Murray & Fed are likely to meet in the semi so might as well wait for the semis to back a singles in the semi and Mur/Fed v Djok in the final IMO as will be gettin the same kinda value without risking the early rounds.
Just cant see anyone out of these first 3 causing enough shocks to win the title tho
Cant say im im a big expert in the Womens game but Na Li seems in good form and despite poor US Open form 16/1 may be overpriced for a run _________________ Follow me on Twitter: @DaveAst77

Ivo Karlovic looks a good bet tomorrow against Jimmy Wang. He hasn't played a lot of tennis this year, but, if fit and serving half decent he should win this one for my money. Available at 4/5 but I'll be taking it along with a couple of short favourites for value. Fitness is the key though and I don't have much idea what shape he's in. Arguably the best serve in the mens game though (he's six foot ten!).
Another few picks would be Jankovic, Pironkova, Benneteau, Paszek and Stephens. |

Ivo looks a great price tomorrow at 8/11 now on with 365, Can't see Wang getting enough balls back from the monster serve.
Goffin V Berdych
Goffin performed well at Wimbledon this year even taking a set for RF. He is 5/1 to beat Berdych which seems quite a decent price, however I can't see him winning the match, I can see him taking a set or 2.
Berdych to win 3-1 5/2
Berdych to win 3-2 13/2 _________________ Big Risk's = Big Rewards |

| 4pm game that stuck out was karlovic, wang didnt beat anyone too good to qualify and ivo has rested his foot and should be in great shape for this. |

1 pick for US OPEN:
KLIZAN-TSONGA OVER 30 GAMES @ 1.87 on Pinnacle
Klizan is a great young player winning a lot of matches this year but still very much underrated, was able to play an equal match with Isner last week. Expect to be a close match. |

| I still fancy Andy Murray to go very very well, I'm backing him quite large at 4/1 and will Lay off if and when he trades at anything lower than 2/1. I think that is a good strategy given doubts about several of the other players. |

| Would be quite a fairytale run if Laura Robson causes another upset. |

1 pick for US OPEN:
BLAKE-RAONIC OVER 39.5 GAMES @ 1.8 on Betfair
I expect Blake to move big Raonic all over the court with his forehand and a very long match. |
