Mona Barthel was favourite for the Estoril Open when I looked last night but it seems she is now not playing.
Odds are nothing special but I am going with the Russian Maria Kirilenko ( 4/1 win ) who is 25 years old and has won 5 titles on the WTA tour with the latest being in 2008. Maria is ranked at 20 in the World and has been in reasonably good form so far this season with a final place in Thailand ( lost in 3 sets to Daniela Hantuchova ) and reached the QF stage at Indian Wells where she lost to Maria Sharapova. She then lost to Marion Bartoli in Miami but this tournament is weaker than the recent ones she has competed in and she looks reasonably well drawn this week to win. Main danger looks likely to be the Italian Roberta Vinci. |

Jarmila Gajdosova v Nadia Petrova
Typical WTA matchup with a good betting position to take advantage of.
One point for Gajdosova to win. Should she lose set one, then another point for set two,.. and so on.
Good odds for a strong young player with experience. She defied the odds recently taking out Georges and I predict her to at least take a set of Petrova who is evenly inconsistent. |
