Melzer was backed from evens into 1/5 to beat Odesnik in straight sets, with around £385,000 bet on the match. Thats a massive amount for a match like this!
Certainly seems someone know something, maybe Odesnik's injury was worse than he let on.

A 3-0 gamble due to the opponents injury seems a little strange to me with Betfair injury rules A risky venture!
I suspect a lot of it was traders who knew that the odds would drop further as the gamble gathered momentum when the trend was posted elsewhere.
At least the authorities should be able to trace who made the most from it and then investigate further.
Shame it weren't me |

| Well something somewhere is fishy. I hope everything is okay. We need healthy matches so that betting can grow. It happened in India with cricket. People lost the interest in the match as well as betting because of a match fixing scandal. A superlative performance from Dhoni was required to bring the public back |

goodwill's in India I believe so i'm sure he's got some idea!
Yes cricket is huge in India though if all the Betfair comments where anything to go by the ICL had some farcical matches with rediculous betting patterns.
I didn't bet on many but people were calling winner half way through in an even match because one team would just be weighed down with money backing it to the ground for no apparent reason.
I'd like to think there is a little more integrity in the IPL with players earning so much money through the game without needing to try to make more. The ICL didn't have anywhere near the money and i'm sure a few of the aging players in it would have welcomed a bit of extra cash if it came their way. |
