It certainly is heavy stuff mate. So far I have lost 2 and a half months doing research. I wouldn't be getting involved yet as I plan on spending around 18 months digging my way through as much information as possible for making my first investment. I suppose a positive for me is that if I can take this seriously for 18 months then I will know I am in a position to take this as seriously as I need too.

Ironically I am pretty sure my old man has some shares in RRR. Brought them a couple of years back I believe.

I really want to turn this in to the best thread ever seen on OLBG (Up against some though rivals as my personal favourite the Asian Handicap thread had some quality input). This thread is mainly by me. A complete newcomer to the Stock Markets. Not really too many experienced Financial Traders about. Keep the posts coming Iantheimp. I need some company in this thread lol. Sometimes I start going mad by talking away to myself.

I'm reading Liverpool. So keep up the good work. also signed up on LSE the other day. Seems a shame you can't see what's in everyone elses portfolio, as indirectly i'd be getting share tips from you, your father and others if i could see what they've bought.

Just under a year ago i got involved in shares. I had £15k of savings earning less than 0.5% interest so decided to open a nominee a/c and invest in safer shares, so very different to your route of building an AIM portfolio. Partly i was able to do this as i took a few months off work (for health reasons). But since Jan i've been back at work and not had the time to stick with it, if anything i'm losing some of the little knowledge i gained. I'm hoping to get back in to it. My strategy has very much been investing in bigger stocks/shares and selling as soon as i make my 8-10%. I've been in and out of LLOY (Lloyds) about 3 times and used ETF's to buy then sell both Crude Oil (CRUD) and the FTSE100 (XUKX). I've done quite well, although currently am holding far too many LLOY shares at 68p than i'd like as I need to free up the cash i bought them with in the next couple of months.

Hi Bigmoose,

Thanks mate. Yea I suppose I am trying to keep the thread as interesting as possible in these early days. But while I am reading through the books it is very difficult to put too much down as I am still learning every day. Once I actually start looking into shares in a few months time I will have a lot more to post up and it should see the thread progress. Good to see a fair few following this thread though.

Glad you invest with a different approach mate. Sort of thing the thread needs as my mind is set on the AIM market. So I will be neglecting other areas of the market. So would be great to see other members making posts relating to the Main Markets out there. At least your back at work now buddy, hope all is well.

When I set up the virtual league I ummed and arrred as to whether I should allow everyone to see what everyone else holds as there is an option available to do that. Not sure if I can change this now the League is running. Probably not. I wouldn't take any tips off of me yet mate. Way too early for me to tip up any shares. But my Dad did tell me to post up Sareum as a 'present for the forum'. They were 1.4p when I posted them up at the beginning of this thread. He brought them at around 0.22p. Since this thread has been running they have touched 2.8p. Now lingering around the 2p marker. He still has every confidence in them though and is eyeing up 4p in the next six months he told me at the weekend. I only hold 2 shares in the Virtual Game. VAL and SAR. But VAL have had some negative news being aimed at them recently. Mainly because they don't provide many updates and investors do get impatient with these smaller shares.

Glad you have a different strategy mate. Nice to see some different ideas coming to the table. All the best mate.

Hi LP

Please pass on a big thanks to your dad for his detailed explanation of CAZA.
Much appreciated.
Needless to say, I will not be investing in that company.

What makes you think I would pick you up on your grammar or spelling?

RGM expecting a couple of good results this week with mining tests finishing. Fingers Crossed

Nothing for me this week.

I am reading into a strange news release by PPR. (Pentagon Prot.). They have announced a massive contract worth £429,000. Their Market Cap is only £1.4 Million. Now with a positive news release such as this I would have expected to have seen this up there with the 7:00am News Releases. But PPR released this statement at 4:50pm on Thursday afternoon. Just as the Market has closed for the Bank Holiday Weekend. The share price didn't move today whatsoever (up about 3%) which is odd for a small share releasing news such as this. This news may have been missed by many investors due to the timing of it's release.

I will continue to dig. But something doesn't seem right with this share and whats happened. I am probably leading myself down the garden path. But hey hoh, its a little adventure for me none the less.

Another Member reminded me of this thread. Just a very quick update. I am still working my way through the Company Accounts Book. (Book 2). I have also become obsessed with a Member of LSE in the Monthly League. Every Month he consistently turns the £10,000 Starting Bank in to anything between £100,000 - £200,000. I have been trying to get him to speak with me but he is unsurpisingly ignoring me. I would love to know his trade history as his record is ridiculously impressive.

Has anyone else kept going with this? The past 2 months have been very quiet on the Markets. Not much News being released. The Euro malarky caused a bit of chaos. But all in all there is not too much to update. Hence the extreme lack of posts. I will be visiting my Dad next weekend and this time I am taking the book with me. As he has never read a Book in his life so there must be a way to understand accounts without having to memorise 600 pages of virtually formulas.

Be back soon. Probably after next weekend when I visit the family.

Peace.

Hi Liverpool1985, knowing what you are going to trade on ,,. sounds easy to do, but watching the world's economy takes a large amount of time and a slice of brain power,,. but listening and setting up a strategy is the way to go,,.

I will up-date this thread as i go along, but at the moment i am tied up with my Trading on the Horse Racing.

But i did post on July 13th on the All things Horse Racing General Discussion Thread on page 96,,.to go out and Buy Gold, which at the Time was £1,500 an ounce, it hit a high today 2nd August of $1,695,,.

Reasons why Gold is such a cheap price even now, because no matter what happens over time, War/Famine and Depression,,.Gold will always be the Best Trading commodity there is.

I am Setting up a Piece of Software that will hi-light trades that fit the Bill, i have had many calls from institutions who are trying to sell me their platforms,, but will up-date later.
