United And Rovers All Sqaure

Premiership Blackburn v Man Utd

02/04 20:00

Blackburn have made a real good fist of pulling themselves away from relegation strife after what looked like a guaranteed return to the Championship considering the results that they were achieving earlier in the season. The loss last week however dragged them closer once again to the bottom 3 and now Kean's side have to start again in their efforts to avoid the drop. That task will be difficult this week as they welcome United to Ewood Park who will be looking for revenge after Rovers inflicted a rare home defeat on them earlier in the campaign. United have ground out results consistently over the last weeks and now hold a three point lead over City as the final games are to be played and that title winning mentality will surely hold them in good stead as the pressure builds over the next few weeks. Blackburn will make life tough for United and they will be confident of upsetting the Red Devils rhythm as well as having the motivation of needing points to avoid relegation. This will be a keenly contested match that I feel could see United drop the points they should have done against Fulham last time out and give Rovers a precious point for their relegation scrap.

Newcastle To Add To Liverpool Woes

Premiership Newcastle v Liverpool

01/04 13:30

Newcastle showed they are still up for the task of finishing in the European slots this season with a polished win over the Baggies last week. The form of new man Cisse and his burgeoning partnership with countryman Ba has ensured the Magpies will finish the season strongly. Liverpool on the other hand are struggling for points and form and even the famously loyal support are starting to show their frustration at the lack of progress from the expensively acquired recruits. Liverpool head into this game looking to avoid a 4th straight away defeat at a ground where they have had a fair amount of success in recent years. Newcastle are finishing the season well as Pardew pushes his players for that 5th place finish and with Liverpool unable to get out of second gear lately I feel that the Magpies can take advantage of the Reds poor form and add another win to their home tally and strengthen their claim for a top 5 finish.

Bolton Take Wolves Closer To The Brink

Premiership Wolverhampton v Bolton

31/03 15:00

Wolves have been unable to reverse the run of poor form that has seen them slide to the foot of the table and given those recent performances it is hard to see them not being relegated this season. They have lost their last 5 at home and look incapable of shrugging off the current malaise that would enable them to go on a decent run that could lift them up the table. Bolton on the other hand have managed back to back wins that have pulled them out of the drop zone and now have the chance to grab another valuable three points by defeating Wolves in a crucial end of season six-pointer. The Trotters used the emotion of the home game against Blackburn last weekend to record the win in what could have been a tricky test but from now on they must find the performances themselves to stave of the threat of relegation. With Wolves in such disarray and Bolton still highly motivated I feel that Bolton will grab all the points at Molineux and put another nail in the Wolves relegation coffin.

Draw On Cards At The DW

Premiership Wigan v Stoke

31/03 15:00

Wigan showed that they possess a huge amount of fighting spirit as they surprised a lacklustre Liverpool last week to record a famous win and three valuable points. Wigan continue to struggle at home though and need to show that same spirit when they face a Stoke side in confident mood after back to back draws against Spurs and City. The Latics have picked a good time to go on a 3 match unbeaten run and 5 points from those games but the record of just one win at home this season shows the bigger picture although the threat of relegation has brought out better performances in the past from Martinez's men and they will need it from now until the end of the season again. Stoke have had an up and down season going on both extended winning and losing runs that have left them planted in mid-table. The experience of European football has given the club a taster of what could be and next season will begin another push for that standard of competition. Stoke will be confident of getting something out of the trip to the DW yet Wigan will be fighting for their lives and I feel that this may end up as an honourable draw.

Arsenal Make It 8 On The Spin

Premiership QPR v Arsenal

31/03 15:00

QPR have been sliding ever downwards and last seasons Championship winners look as though they are heading straight back there for next season. The tough run-in of fixtures will not help in their quest for points and the players at times look resigned to their fate. Arsenal however are on the crest of wave and have found some belief and form for the final games of the season as well as some stability in a squad that is almost free from injuries. With the form that the Gunners side are in at the moment it is hard to see how this Rangers side can stop them and this could be a hard watch for the home support as their North London rivals make light work of Hughes' struggling side.

Sunderland Put Another Dent In City Title Bid

Premiership Man City v Sunderland

31/03 15:00

City have found that trying to wrestle the title of United is no easy task and the cracks have started to appear in recent weeks. It doesnt help when opponents are scoring wonder goals against you but the absence of the steadying influence of Kompany and the dip in form of David Silva has hampered the side along with the goals drying up on their travels. City wont be afraid of anyone on their own turf having won 15 out of 15 this season but they face a tough test against a Sunderland side that have the capability of causing an upset. The Black Cats would have been disappointed to be dumped out of the Cup last week but now their efforts can be put into finishing as close to the European spots as possible. Sunderland will have seen how sides have harried and hassled City in recent weeks into dropping points and O'Neill will relish the test of taking points from a side that have been perfect at home. With City stuttering and Sunderland fired up it is not beyond possibility that the Black Cats will strike lucky and walk away with a hard earned point and leave City's title push with another dent in it.

Fulham To Beat Canaries

Premiership Fulham v Norwich

31/03 15:00

Fulham will still be smarting from their perceived injustice at not grabbing a point from Old Trafford but can take their frustrations out on Norwich at the stronghold of Craven Cottage. The United defeat was the 3rd in a row for Jol's side but with only one of those being at home, the poor display against Swansea, they will still be confident in the ability to turn over Norwich especially with Dempsey still playing well and new arrival Pogrebnyak looking at home in West London. Norwich continue to surprise and can relax for the final games and play with a air of freedom having secured their top flight status for next season. They will miss Grant Holt up front for the trip to Fulham and without someone to hold the ball up they could struggle against a side that when once on top at home really look to drive that advantage home. It could be a difficult 90 minutes for Norwich here as Fulham get back to winning ways.

Toffees To Continue Fine Current Form

Premiership Everton v West Brom

31/03 15:00

Everton boss David Moyes task for next season is to see what he can do to get his side playing like they are now from the first matches in August. The perennial storming finish from the Blue half of Merseyside openly frustrates the manager and shows just what the side are capable off yet once again they have left it too late for a real shot at the top four slot that they should be fighting for. Recent results have been good despite the setbacks of defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool but include the impressive away victory over Swansea last time out. West Brom can be thankful that their away form has been so good this season as the home form is terrible, something which didnt improve last week as Newcastle easily walked away with the points from the Hawthorns. While the Baggies have been good on the road the trip to an in-form Everton is not going to be easy for a side that have lost 2 out of the last 3. Everton will be looking for the points to try and catch Newcastle and I feel they will do just that in a tight contest against the Baggies.

Chelsea To Edge Past Villains

Premiership Aston Villa v Chelsea

31/03 15:00

Chelsea will want this season to end quickly but not before they have had a good stab at qualifying for the Champions League as winning this seasons competition seems unlikely given the quality of opposition they would have to beat to lift the trophy. Di Matteo will want to take the credit for the upturn in results but in truth it has little to do with him and more to do with the fact that the players are now trying far harder than when AVB was in charge. As for Villa they will also want the season to end quickly as it has been very disappointing and the side has not seen any obvious improvement in performances in the relatively short time McCleish has been at the helm. Villa have been average at home and while this Chelsea side are hardly pulling up trees they should have just enough to edge past a dour Villa side that will be looking over their shoulder at the other relegation contenders.

Norwich To Hold The Magpies

Premiership Newcastle v Norwich

18/03 16:00

Newcastle have a battle on to hold onto 6th place with Liverpool and in-form Swansea and Everton close on their tails. The home form is still strong for the Magpies with 3 wins and 2 draws in the last 5 at home and despite the injuries to some of the seasons star performers are still playing a good brand of football and picking up points. The unlucky defeat to Arsenal would have been a kick in the teeth after working so hard during the game but it is against the sides underneath them in the league where results have been good and enabled the side to remain in the hunt for European football next season. Norwich have had a super season in the top flight and have surpassed all expectations of them. The away form is still o.k with 3 wins and 2 defeats in the last 5 including the win at Swansea where even the top dogs have struggled this year. Norwich do leak goals but can also score them in equal measure and this could be an entertaining spectacle with Norwich yet again showing they are no pushovers and walking away from the North-East with a very creditable draw.

Loving Liberty

Horse Racing 6:10 Kempton

01/03 18:10

Liberty Love hasnt been seen on a race track since 2008 but the horse now has found a new home at the Harley stable. Its last outing was a second behind Hampstead Heath at Tramore and so this is a chance at reviving a career that has stumbled badly because of injury but at its peak the horse was rated at 70 and if it runs anywhere near to that kind of class it should be far to good for the competition here.

Swans To Shock Stoke

Premiership Stoke v Swansea

26/02 15:00

Stoke haven't hit their straps really at any stage this season and the confidence derived from their usually strong home performances has not materialised with their attentions split between League and European action. The Potters did pick up in form just around Xmas time once the Europa league had gone into hibernation but since the turn of the year the form has been poor with just the solitary win over Blackburn the day after New Year's Day and now Pulis' side are looking to avoid a 5th consecutive loss. Stoke are currently 9 points ahead of the relegation zone but falling like a stone and could be the yearly surprise team that get dragged into the dogfight. Swansea come to the Britannia level on points with their opponents but in slightly better form. Their season has been based around strong home performances with 21 points attained at the Liberty Stadium compared to just 9 on the road but recent away form has picked up with 2 wins in the last 3 and the neat, quick passing style they use will be at direct odds with those on the side. Stoke opted not to send a strong side to Valencia in midweek in anticipation of the need for points in the league and so should be relatively fresh but Swansea have performed admirably all season even in their defeats and I can see them surprising Stoke with their ambitious style and causing Stoke to mull over a 5th loss on the trot.
