Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova in Malaysian Open 2014
by meldettori on 14 Apr at 06:20
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Open 2014, the first potential square-off between the two Czech tennis sisters in a long time. The two could meet in the final if results go their way and beat the likes of Cibulkova (in Karolina's half of the draw), and Donna Vekic, Kimiko Date-Krumm, or one of the Zhangs (in the bottom half of the draw, as it looks relatively easier passage for Kristyna). Last year this tournament was the sight of Karolina's first ever WTA tour win. The head-to-head between the two has been already outlined in this post. I think, due to the first half of the draw being more difficult for the champion, Kristyna could win (or get at least to the latter stages of) this tournament. She played well in Auckland this year, failing after 5 matches, but won an ITF tourney in Britain indoors,..
2014 World Snooker Championship , Value First Round Plays
by The Executioner on 17 Apr at 21:31
This is it , the big one , The World Championship. A time when not just the most ardent and avid fans will be talking about it but sports fans in general. It’s an event in some ways similar to the Grand National, obviously not in sporting terms but like the once a year punters at Aintree there will be many followers of sport that will just tune in and follow this one snooker tournament throughout the year. Many fans will recall some of the epic championships throughout it’s history, probably none more so than Dennis Taylor’s last frame and black ball win over Steve Davis back in 1985 which went on until the early hours of the morning. The heartache of Jimmy White losing five consecutive finals ( 1990/95 ) , the hugely talented but unpredictable Alex Higgins..
Early 1st Round Matches At The Crucible
by TeddyT on 18 Apr at 21:12
1st Round Selections for Saturday and Sunday's games Ronnie O’Sullivan 1/25 v Robin Hull 18/1 Match starts 10.00am Saturday 19th Robin Hull has been a professional for over twenty years but as far as I can see has only made it The Crucible once before (lost 10-6 to Graeme Dott in 2006) so he has done really well to make it to Sheffield once again. Hull won four qualifiers to make it this stage beating Peter Ebdon in his final match but it’s very difficult to see him troubling O’Sullivan in the first round proper. The two players have met twice before with O’Sullivan winning 4-3 in a PTC event in 2013 and 5-2 in an event in 1997. A comprehensive victory for O’Sullivan looks the only outcome in this match. Hull will do well to get five frames on the board and O’Sullivan..

Irish Grand National (Updated 17th April)
by Micko70 on 15 Apr at 18:28
The Irish Grand National takes place at Fairyhouse racecourse and is usually run on Easter Monday. The race is run over 3 miles 5 furlongs and is a handicap chase. Some big names have won this race before, including Arkle (1964), Rhyme N Reason (1985) & Desert Orchid (1990). There are 24 fences to be jumped in the race and the current sponsors of the race are Boylesports who take over from Ladbrokes, who had sponsored the race since 2011. The race is quite a valuable race, as the 2013 winner collected €141,000. I will be using 8 trends for the race, they are Age, Weight, Official Rating, Last Time Out, Last Run, Runs This Year, Wins This Year and Distance LAST 10 WINNERS OF THE RACE The table below shows the last 10 winners of the race and the 8 trends will be used on those..

Antepost Thoughts and Selections - English Premier League
by danbradley on 15 Apr at 13:46
In this first of a series of blogs I will look at the antepost markets still in effect for the Barclays Premier League, following this up with separate blogs on the Championship, the Spanish Primera Division and the Champions League and Europa League. With the top goalscorer, as well as all of the personal awards surely going to Luis Suarez, I have focussed on the battle of the teams rather than the players, namely the fight for the Premier League, Champions League qualification, and the battle to avoid relegation to the Championship. The Race for the Title - Has it Become a Two Horse Race? Liverpool (1.8), Man City (3.5), Chelsea (6) In the space of a month Liverpool have gone from 25/1 dark horses to odds on favourites for the title, and all down to some scintillating performances that have resulted in..
