A league table that could be over looked due to its status
by meoldmate on 23 Mar at 21:16
SPFL League Two Here is one league that, many members from South of the border would not really register with, unless the games are of interest when selecting on a football coupon. There are four teams heading for promotion from this league, three with a view of a play off and one Champion. The four teams teams that could be considered for the title are as follows. Stranraer Morton Forfar Brechin I suppose some membres would be of the thinking, who would be interested in this league and these teams. Possibly Scottish folk, who live in other parts of the British Isles and abroad and football fans, who take teams like these four and possibly others under their wing, just for interest. When I was a boy, I was fascinated with Stenhousemuir, possibly by the name and nothing else, as I could not tell you anything about them, I..
ATP Masters 1000 Miami
by undertherobe on 23 Mar at 20:50
Last week in Indian Wells saw it go to the form book with Novak Djokovic outlasting Roger Federer in the final to extend his lead at the top of the world rankings. Once again, we have an ATP 1000 event over the next week and a half, and this time we cross the United States onto the East Coast to take a look at the Miami Open which is the last hard court event on American soil until the ATP 250 in Atlanta at the end of July. History Between 1990 & 2004, this event was dominated by Americans with home players taking home 12 of the 15 tournaments played. Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras and Andy Roddick all winning at least one event. Since that period of American dominance, only Andy Roddick in 2010 kept the trophy in..

League One & Two Preview - Gameweek 39
by bobslay13 on 26 Mar at 20:57
It’s crunch time in the Football League and, with the International break suspending the top tiers, there’s no better time for some added interest in Leagues One and Two. Some sides will be missing players to International call-ups but most will still be able to field their strongest line-ups. 8 games and 6 weeks to go I thought I’d give my best bets for each fixture this weekend. League One is starting to take some shape now after a few weeks of almost nothing between the mid-table sides there are now 14 points separating the bottom four and the top six. Sides are unlikely to be found completely complacent as good or bad runs of form could still easily drag them in to a relegation fight or push them into promotion contention but as the weeks go by the ‘nothing to..
The Lincoln with a line through ratings
by meoldmate on 25 Mar at 22:54
I like many members, punters like to work a figure of some sort and back in the 90’s, I use to use timeform a fair amount, now I prefer the Racing Post ratings. Figures for working out your selection chances can work for you and against you. The figures you work with, must co-inert with the form of the horse, including ground, trip and class. Many of us, including myself, can get carried away, when a horse appears with a great rating and been dropped in class, thinking this is thrown in and should win at a very good price, hence the very good price by the bookies, as it’s form has deteriorated and possibly unreliable. So what I was thinking and thought would be great to look at is ratings from the first three home in past races of the Lincoln and..
Race to the Stanley Cup playoffs - who will take the 8th seed in the East?
by Epic on 26 Mar at 18:55
With just over two weeks to go until the end of the NHL regular season, you can already feel the playoff atmosphere in certain games. Like LA Kings' defenseman Drew Doughty said this week - it's already playoffs for them. A lackluster first half of the season has left the defending Stanley Cup champs scrambling for a playoff berth. And they aren't alone. The Boston Bruins are another big club, which is struggling to make it to the playoffs. This after winning the Presidents Trophy last year for the best regular season record. The Bruins face a big battle to climb back to the Eastern Conference's Top 8. Even with poor form, the Bruins held on to the final playoff spot in the East for quite a while, but this week the Ottawa Senators finally grabbed it to themselves. A month..
What I Have Learned From Cheltenham
by garethp1981 on 22 Mar at 20:46
The end of the festival is now over a week ago and I thought it would be good to record on this blog what I think can be learned from the greatest show on turf. I was lucky enough to be able to go to the first day, so my view are perhaps coloured a bit by this, but I did think there were things to be learned from each of the four days. Douvan Is One To Look Out For Much of the talk before day one was about a Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh winning the four Grade One Races on the Tuesday. To do this Ruby needed to start the festival by winning on Douvan and it was to the delight of a very noisy Cheltenham crowd that he did so. I personally thought that Douvan was the..
