US Open 2014 - Prediction blog
by botev1921 on 22 Aug at 00:02
After the huge success of the Wimbledon Prediction Blog and the positive feedback we received about it, our panel is back to give it another go, this time for the last Major of the season. The US Open represents something of a culmination for the tennis season as the summer is busy with all the US Open series tournaments and once the last Major is out of the way, the best tennis players can concentrate on rounding up their year with either eye on the Masters Finals or the smaller events in the last couple of months before the winter break. Just like for Wimbledon, our blog consists of six selections, all offered blindly by our experts, who have no idea what the others are thinking. There is the standard ATP and WTA champions selection and some ideas on players most..
3 reasons why LeBron and the Cavs won't win the NBA title this season
by Epic on 23 Aug at 21:31
So the biggest trade of the NBA off-season is now official. Kevin Love has taken his talents to Cleveland to team up with LeBron James. The Cavaliers have been the favorites for the NBA title in the new season ever since LeBron announced his homecoming and now the snowball is bound to get even bigger. Currently you will get your money back four and a half times if you back the Cavs to win the Larry O'Brien trophy, but I will certainly avoid that bet. I have three reasons for it. 1. The team needs time to gel When the "Big Three" got together in Miami, as LeBron abandoned his home state club to team up with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in 2010, the team struggled to find its rhythm. The new look Heat lost 8 of its first 17 regular..
Hit or miss? The Balotelli conundrum
by ibfm23 on 23 Aug at 08:53
In one of my recent comments to a fellow OLBG blogger I put forward my thoughts on the then Milan striker and expressed my disagreement with him being labelled world class. As fate would have it, a couple of days later Liverpool announced the transfer. The Kop has been waiting for Rodgers to sign a Suarez replacement. As a Milan follower I had joyed when the Italian striker joined the Rossoneri a couple of years back, however, over time I have grown to distaste the player, not much due to his off the field antics, but more due to his lack of on field presence. Nevertheless as a true Liverpool fan I am ready to give him another chance. The issue is whether Balotelli is a good fit for this Liverpool side. In my previous posts I had called for Rodgers to..
NHL: 5 teams to look out for in the new season
by Epic on 21 Aug at 16:43
The new NHL season is just a month and a half away. It promises to be as exciting as ever as alongside the "old suspects" like current Stanley Cup holders Los Angeles Kings, 2013 champs Chicago Blackhawks and Eastern powerhouses Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins, we are bound to have a number of ambitious sides dreaming of reaching the cup final themselves. Here are my thoughts on five sides aiming high in the upcoming season: Tampa Bay Lightning The Bruins and the Penguins were the only two sides which got the better of Lightning during the regular season this year in the Eastern Conference. It seemed like Lightning were ready to make noise in the playoffs as well, but that was ruined by an injury to nr. 1 goalie Ben Bishop. The Bolts ended up crashing out with no wins in the..
The All Draws Multiple Challenge - week 2
by tbuckley on 26 Aug at 01:26
The All Draws Multiple Challenge - week 2 The fun challenge I took on last week was to find matches that could be potentially draws, to put them into multiples and make money from backing them and thankfully it was a big thumbs up as 8 of the 12 games I backed to be draws actually ended in a draw. That's a 67% strike rate on selecting draws last weekend and it resulted in 3 profit making nominated all draw lucky 15's with two having 3 winning draws and the other 2 winning draws, I did them myself as real 10p all draw lucky 15's and turned the total £4.50 staked into just over £19, a total profit of £14.50, a return of nearly 4.5 times what I staked. If you'd done them as 12 level stakes win singles on the Draws..
College Football - Week One Peview
by undertherobe on 26 Aug at 00:02
Strap on those pads, get those helmets on and tie those laces on your cleats because the College Football season is getting ready for the big kickoff. Primarily played on Saturday, the opening week sees games from Wednesday through to Monday as we get our first look at potential National Championship contenders and Bowl winners. Each week I’ll be previewing what I consider to be the three biggest games in College Football and trying to provide a bet or two along the way. You can find my season preview HERE where I looked at the prospects of seven teams who I think will be in the mix when it comes to the new College Football playoffs. The Associated Press have released their preseason rankings and the rankings of the teams I previewed are below TEAM PRESEASON RANKING Florida State Seminoles 1 Alabama Crimson Tide 2 Oregon Ducks 3 Oklahoma..

by The rabbit on 25 Aug at 19:16
The LPGA Tour moves from Canada to Oregon for the Portland Classic Presented by Cambia Health Solutions ( known previously as the Safeway Classic ) this week. This tournament will be played from Aug 28th to 31st August 2014 and is one of the longest-running regular events on the LPGA Tour and first took place in 1972. The Pumpkin Ridge golf club hosted this event in the four years before 2013 when it returned to the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in North Portland which had been the host course in some other years including 2008. The tournament has taken place over a three day period in the past but changed to the regular four day 72 hole format in 2013. The past ten champions of this tournament with their final scores ( 56 holes before 2013 ) are - 2013 Suzann..
