The Stewards Cup is the biggest handicap race run at the 5 day Glorious Goodwood meeting, the race takes place on the Saturday, the final day of the meeting and is run over 6 furlongs. Many horses who took part in the Wokingham Handicap over the same distance at the Royal Meeting often take their chance here. Richard Hughes (pictured) is the most winning jockey with 4 wins after riding Intrinsic to victory last year How will he fair this year on his final ride in the race before he retires to get ready for his forthcoming training career. As usual, i have looked at the last 10 runnings of the race and looked at the following trends - Age, Weight, Official Rating, Last Time Out, Last Run, Year Runs, Year Wins and Draw Any horse scoring a 10 will score 5 points, a 9..

Premiership Transfer Window Losers
by botev1921 on 27 Jul at 16:33
After talking about the Premiership Transfer Window winners I decided to come back to the losers category I was considering and quickly go over the teams and players I consider to have done worse than expected or to have done certain moves that simply lack coherence and logic. While obviously for a certain transfer to be considered a failure one would need to monitor how things go for at least a couple of months, there were still those occasional pieces of business that just made very little sense in the context of what the teams/players needed to go one step further in their development. Feel free to add comments even if you disagree completely with some of my observations and we will be able to compare points of view come May 2016 and see who got it right or wrong...
The Southampton Perspective - Saints Premier League Preview 15/16
by danbradley on 26 Jul at 11:27
The new season is near and excitement is building ahead of another Premier League campaign. Fans up and down the country will be wondering how their sides will get on after a long summer with little in the way of footballing action. While there will be plenty of attention on the fight at the top and whether a rejuvenated Man Utd and an Anglicised Man City can compete with Chelsea at the top, or whether Arsenal can continue their upward trajectory and mount a title challenge. At the bottom, Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich will be hoping to survive a difficult first season in the top flight, while others who struggled through last season will be hoping to avoid a similarly turbulent year. My focus here is on my team, Southampton, and how we will fare in an exciting year for..

Next Manager Out Of The Premier League Door
by bitmoretechnical on 24 Jul at 16:20
Brendan Rodgers is almost a universal favourite to be the first manager booted out of the Premier League but there are at least three managers whose odds of leaving their job next make much better bets. Best Bets McClaren, Newcastle 33/1 Owners: It seems like only yesterday that Mike Ashley was just a businessman, rather than the target of spite for so many Geordies. Ashley has his favourites but he has also lost patience with many managers in very short periods - Pardew was the exception to the rule. Manager's record last five years: McClaren has been sacked in four of the last five seasons, across three different countries. Verdict: Fantastic odds for a ropey manager with a tetchy chairman. Flores, Watford 6/1 Owners: Pozzo Family in charge since summer 2012. On their sixth manager since then. They sack bosses even when results are..
Pre-season 2015/16 - The Liverpool Perspective; two weeks to go
by ibfm23 on 26 Jul at 12:00
Once again the Reds were amongst the most active clubs during the summer transfer window. Last year, we all had the ill feeling that the failure to replace Suarez would have a detrimental effect, and it did indeed. This time around though, Rodgers has done a better job at slotting in signings where required. Last time out, Liverpool conceded 48 goals in 38 matches, 10 or more goals short of the top four’s defensive record. This notwithstanding, the Reds kept 14 clean sheets, better than Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. Yet, when things went wrong they went horribly wrong and Liverpool conceded more than 2 goals on 7 occasions which all ended in defeats. In comparison, the top four jointly conceded more than 2 goals 7 times! When things got hard, the Reds were unable to keep it together and this..
