BMW PGA Championship Preview
by jimmywomble on 19 May at 20:27
Jimenez to Jig his Way Around Wentworth The European Tour has its flagship event this week with the BMW PGA Championship from Wentworth. Going for the double double this week will be Rory McIlroy who won last week at Quail Hollow in the US and also defends the title he won here last year. Funnily enough the tee-off times are the same as the UK and are at 7am on the 21st May. Unusual for modern events as well everyone will tee off from the first hole rather than the modern trend of splitting the field with the 10th tee. The Course & Past Winners The West course at Wentworth has been used since 1984 for this event and was also the previous host of the World Matchplay Championship although that ceased in 2007. However there were some major changes..
Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Preview
by jimmywomble on 20 May at 22:34
Casey on The Case at Colonial After six weeks away the PGA Tour is back in Texas for a couple of weeks, starting in Fort Worth for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, which as the name hints is from the Colonial CC. Winning last year was Adam Scott who beat Jason Dufner in a playoff. Texas is 6 hours behind and so it will start at 1.00pm UK time, on Thursday 21st May 2015. The Course & Past Winners The Colonial CC is in Fort Worth, Texas, to the south west of the city on the banks of the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. Opened in the 1930’s it’s another fairly tight course that will take plenty of course management to work your way around it. It’s a par 70 course and 7,204 yards long, after being..
LEICESTER v Queens Park Rangers. Premiership May 24th.
by davidg3907 on 22 May at 14:19
RECOGNITION OF JAMIE VARDY'S ENGLAND CALL UP Congratulations to Jamie who has progressed from non league football in 2011/12 with Halifax ( 3 goals in 4 games ) and Fleetwood ( 36 goals in 40 games ) helping Fleetwood take the Conference title with 103 points and promotion to the Football League, to being called up to the England squad at the culmination of what has been a fantastic three years at Leicester. As the first £1m transfer from a Conference club, what a bargain he is proving to be. He was voted Leicester’s Player of the season by his team mates last season. Possibly close to a repeat this season, he was beaten to it by no less than the legendary Esteban Cambiasso and whilst being a bit naïve at Premiership level initially, he has adapted very well. His pace..
Roland Garros 2015 - ATP Draw Preview
by botev1921 on 22 May at 23:45
I will not deviate from the well-established tradition of posting a preview of the ATP draw for each Grand Slam and once again following very positive feedback after the Aussie Open, I am ready to present my thoughts on how Lady Luck arranged the different match-ups for the second of the four big tennis events of 2015. Roland Garros is very specific in its nature as the clay, which some consider the only true tennis surface has been heavily dominated by one group of players with distinguishable skill set and most important of all, one player who rightfully so grew up to be the true King of Clay. For the first time in a decade, however, Rafael Nadal does not enter his fortress as favourite and for the first time ever he actually has been significantly outplayed in the build-up..
Kansai Open Golf Championship Preview
by jimmywomble on 19 May at 23:29
Moving to Tanihara to Win in Japan Another event on the Japan Tour that moves from course to course, it is the Kansai Open Golf Championship. The event was held until 1991 when it was dropped from the schedule, but returned in 2009 with Koumei Oda winning at the Rokko CC last year. This year it will be from the Meishin Yokaichi CC in Shiga, the course actually hosted back in 1981 where Akio Kanemoto was the victor. Japan it is 8 hours ahead of the UK and so this will start at 11pm UK time, on the 20th May. The Course & Past Winners The Shiga Prefecture is between the cities of Nagoya and Kyoto, next to the Biwa Lake. The Meishin Yokaichi CC is a few miles from the lake near the city of Higashiomi, just..
Football League Play-Off Finals Preview
by bobslay13 on 20 May at 13:05
Wembley Awaits The hard work began way back in the July 2014 pre-season for the whole of the Football League but for 6 sides it is only just finishing. The Play-Off Finals are a culmination of 48 gruelling games of football and in the end it’s all or nothing. Win at Wembley this weekend and the season was a success, lose and it’s back to the drawing board with a good season simply confined to the record books. It's so far so good for my Play-Offs predictions and tips from my earlier blog; HERE with Wycombe winning at 12/5 away at Plymouth's Home Park and Middlesbrough keeping a clean sheet at the Riverside against Brentford. I tipped Wycombe Wanderers, Swindon Town and Norwich City for Play-Off glory and all 3 have made it to the finals in a bid to land me..
NHL Eastern Conference Final - Best of 7 now a Best of 3
by undertherobe on 23 May at 21:15
So after four games of the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals, nothing separates the NEW YORK RANGERS and TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING as they bid for the right to represent their conference in the Stanley Cup Finals. It’s been the very definition of an up and down series with both teams taking one game apiece on road ice. So now that this series has become a best of three, how do these teams match up? Regular Season Meetings Nov 17th : Tampa Bay won 5-1 @ NY Rangers Nov 26th : Tampa Bay won 4-3 vs NY Rangers Dec 1st : Tampa Bay won 6-3 @ NY Rangers The Series so far Game 1 : NY Rangers won 2-1 vs Tampa Bay Game 2 : Tampa Bay won 6-2 @ NY Rangers Game 3 : Tampa Bay won 6-5 vs NY Rangers Game 4 : NY Rangers won 5-1 @ NY Rangers After..
