Asian Handicap Betting as a Tug of War
by garethp1981 on 20 Nov at 13:16
What is now known in the West as Asian Handicap Betting was originally called Hang Chen betting has been popular in Indonesia for a long time but is said only to have gotten its English name as late as 1998. The story goes that Joe Phan, an Indonesian bookmaker sent an Email to a journalist called Joe Saumarez Smith who at the time worked for an organisation called Vegas Insider, asking for an English name for this type of bet. Asian Handicap was the name that Smith came up with. In the simplest terms it is a way of evening up a game of football so that there are two main outcomes that can happen which have a roughly even chance of happening. Contrary to popular belief, the Asian Handicap doesn’t always rule out the chances of a draw although..
College Football - Week Thirteen Peview
by undertherobe on 21 Nov at 14:37
Back to winning ways for the blog last week with yet another 2-1 week and it’s now 9-5 over the past five weeks. Alabama never looked like losing at home to no.1 ranked Mississippi State and they came with 15 seconds of covering the spread. Florida State produced yet another comeback win whilst Georgia completed my winning week by stomping all over Auburn. In my season preview (view it HERE) I backed Oregon and Oklahoma to win the National Championship. Oklahoma won on the road at Texas Tech to sneak back into the rankings at no. 20 but at 7-3 their hopes of reaching the playoffs are over. The same can’t be said of Oregon who had a week off last week and remained at no.2 in the rankings. Win their final two games and the Pac-12 Championship and they’ll..
Gameweek 12 - Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
by ibfm23 on 20 Nov at 07:04
On Wednesday the Liverpool faithful woke up to the glooming news that Daniel Sturridge has suffered a second injury setback which will extend his 2-month absence. This will definitely be a blow for the Reds, who ahead of their 12 matches over a 5-week period, were hoping that the return of the England international could turn their fortunes around. Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park on the back of 3 straight defeats and with over a month since their last Premier League win. The 3 points are of the essence for Reds as they look to keep in touch with that 4th Champions League spot currently held by West Ham. Crystal Palace themselves are in no better situation. The London club’s last Premier League win dates back to September and they have generated 1 point in their last 5 matches. This..
Cleverly v Bellew - Saturday - PPV
by FrankieMonkhouse on 19 Nov at 13:50
The Beatles released ‘We Can Work It Out’ back in 1965 but it seems the only way Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly can settle their long running feud is in the ring. Sky Sports Pay-Per-View screen all of the action from Liverpool’s Echo Arena live on Saturday night. This match-up has split public opinion down the middle and bookmakers seem at a loss to predict the eventual winner, meaning it’s a real pick-em contest in the betting. Former WBO world light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly claimed a majority decision when the pair met in the same venue three years ago and since losing his title to the impressive Sergey Kovalev last summer via a fourth round TKO, the 27-year-old has returned to form with two stoppage wins in his most recent outings, both inside four rounds. The 6ft 1inch Welshman is best..
