Title beyond doubt? With just under a month to go Juventus have further broadened the gap. The arrivals of Benatia, Dani Alves, Pjanic and Pjaca were already enough to make them hot favorites for a sixth consecutive title. The capture of Higuain for Eur94.7m (second highest ever transfer fee) almost puts the title beyond doubt. The Bianconeri may lose Pogba to Manchester United but that would leave them with a war-chest of Eur50-70m and they are reportedly in advanced talks with Witsel to replace the Frenchman. It therefore comes to no surprise that the odds on Juventus to win the Serie A are as low as 1.5. Too short for an ante-post. Last year's challengers Roma and Napoli haven't been very active to date. The Giallorossi brought in Gerson from Fluminese, a direct swap for Pjanic, whilst the Partenopei brought in…

With the Olympics less than two weeks away, the upcoming Masters Event in Canada certainly doesn’t have the overall feel of an event just one level below the Grand Slams with the absence of Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. In 2016, the women are in Montreal whilst the men play in Toronto. 2016 Masters Series so far Indian Wells: Novak Djokovic def. Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-0 Miami: Novak Djokovic def. • Glorious Goodwood - a look at the Betfred Mile and Qatar Stewards Cup

The Market Man on 24 Jul at 20:14

Glorious Goodwood - a look at the Betfred Mile and Qatar Stewards Cup This is indisputably one of my favourite weeks of the year - Goodwood and Galway provide us with great racing from both flat and jumps, each course with it's own idiosyncrasies and trainers who take advantage of them. I've written a separate blog for Galway so we can concentrate here on the action on the Sussex Downs... The Betfred Mile : Class 2 handicap Known as the Golden Mile to most. A right hand turn halfway through the race means the draw can be influential when making a selection. The last three years, the first three home started from the first ten stalls. In 2012 it was the first two home. Experience of Goodwood or Epsom, another undulating track with a downhill straight which tests the balance of horses…

  • Why the New York Jets need to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick

undertherobe on 26 Jul at 20:56

Such is the way of the NFL in 2016 that when a player signs a lucrative contract (whether justified or not), fellow players in the same position start questioning why they're not being paid the same. But when the Redskins handed QB Kirk Cousins a $20 million deal back in March, few in the land of Gang Green country could have imagined the impact it woukd have on the New York Jets and leave 2nd year head coach Tom Bowles going into training camp without his starting QB signed up for the 2016 season. Contract holdouts aren't uncommon in the NFL and they have an uncanny habit of usually sorting themselves out without any major damage being done. However, the Ryan Fitzpatrick saga has been dragging on for far too long and reports suggest that the Jets have given him until the…

  • German Grand Prix - Formula 1

    Ralfie1982 on 27 Jul at 16:22

German Grand Prix So as predicted by many, the race was to be effectively won by the first corner, but for those that too the early value on Lewis Hamilton were rewarded as he controlled the race from the front. Before we move onto the German GP I have one last task…. Star of the Week : Kimi Raikonnen : Planned things beautifully through the race, made the stratedgy really work to get up from 14th place on the grid. Well done Kimi! Dunce of the Week : THE FIA! : What a poor weekend they had - penalising JB when the brakes not working in Jenson’s Car and penalising them and deeming it not to be a safety critical matter. They need to look at the rules around team instruction, when it’s related to…
