College Basketball Tournament Preview
by undertherobe on 05 Mar at 22:31
With less than 48 hours between Selection Sunday and the start of the end of season College Basketball tournament there doesn’t leave much time for a full analysis of the bracket. So instead I’ve picked a handful of the strongest contenders and will look at their chances of cutting down the nets in Arlington, Texas on April 7th. The make-up of the bracket is a little less muddied than that of College Football. The 31 Conference Tournament winners earn a spot as does the winner of the regular season in the Ivy League (they don’t hold a conference tournament). The selection committee then chooses the remaining 36 teams to give us a total of 68. The committee then seeds each team in groups of 4 from 1-17 to give us 4 different brackets. The winner of each bracket then goes onto..

Cheltenham Day One Briefings Tuesday 11th March
by The Executioner on 07 Mar at 15:48
1.30 Supreme Novices Hurdle: It looks a tremendous renewal this year with three high class novices in particular in the shape of Irving , Vautour and Wicklow Brave. The former , a useful performer in France has made excellent progress since arriving at Ditcheat under the care of Paul Nicholls and created a favourable impression last time out when easily collecting the Grade two Dovecote Hurdle at Kempton. Prior to that the son of Singspiel took another Grade two event this time at Ascot beating the highly touted Nicky Henderson trained novice Volnay De Thaix by six lengths after showing a nice turn of foot after jumping the last flight. His jumping wasn’t always foot perfect at Kempton but he never looked like falling and he’s clearly a very decent prospect. Irving acts well of soft going but is considered a..

But is it really that straight forward? Below I give a brief account of Quevega and her main rivals, with comments from their connections as well. Roll on Tuesday I say! QUEVEGA 10 years-old Willie Mullins - Rated 164 This outstanding Mare will be attempting to cement her place in the history books this year by becoming the first horse ever to win the same race six years running at the Cheltenham Festival. She currently shares that honour with Golden Miller who won the Gold Cup five times between 1932 and 1936. She is streets ahead of her rivals on official ratings and if turning up in tip-top shape then history..
