FLOYDS ZERO HOUR CONTRACT It’s finally going to happen by the look of it, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to lock horns, unfortunately for us and to the shame of boxing it is four years late, yes it will still be a spectacle but in its pomp this would have been the greatest fight of all time. Floyd is no longer as good as he was (though still a great fighter) , the recent talks with Amir Khan give an indication of what he is after, simply opponents with names who are handpicked for harmlessness. Pacquiao four years ago was tearing through the division and he wasn’t just knocking people over , every Manny fight ended up with doctors and stretchers all over the place, however Manny like Floyd is no longer the fighter he was , despite being two..
Football Betting - Using Statistics
by arniehi on 23 Jan at 12:44
Much tends to be made about the value of statistics in betting - how feasible it is to place bets solely based on statistical analysis; strike rates and LSPs when it comes to systematic betting; and in my mind most importantly, which statistics are actually relevant. In a time where we now seem to be inundated with various football statistics - be it through commentary during a game, punditry after a game, or social media feeds and websites of stat compilers, it's fairly easy to get caught in a mindset whereby statistics may be the only thing that matter when it comes to placing your bets. Having trialled a few different statistic models to help my football betting in particular, and someone who will almost always find reasoning in statistics when placing my bets (often times to either back up my..

How Competitive is The Horse Race?
by nors on 21 Jan at 21:34
When it comes to either backing or laying horses one area that is often ignored or at least not factored in is the competitiveness of the race. This competitiveness I feel is key to successful betting, when you choose a horse that you like do you consider the race it is in? Just because you have followed it, or it ran well last time, or the trainer and jockey have a great strike rate when teaming up means nothing unless you first consider its opposition. In handicaps horses are rated by their ability, with the highest rated given the highest weight to carry. Handicaps are restricted to horses with ratings in a particular range, the weight it carries is decided by its rating and what class of race it is in. On most weekdays with say 3 meetings there would..
2015 Fifty 3yo's To Follow.... Part Two ( Numbers 26 To 50 )
by The Executioner on 24 Jan at 13:09
Over the last ten weeks or so I've delved deep in to the form book, watched many a race and finally put together a list of fifty three year old horses to follow for 2015. Hopefully I’ve unearthed a gem or two to help us through the year in our battle with the bookmakers , many of the lists are still maidens , plenty are what we would describe as Dark Horses & somewhat unexposed and fingers crossed most if not all of them will prove better on a racecourse than we have seen so far to date. Last year's list served us well with a total of 47 winners and a profit over the season of +23.71 points , after a sticky start to the campaign. I'd be more than happy if this year's list proved as fruitful. I..
Mitchell v Estrada - Saturday - Sky Sports
by FrankieMonkhouse on 26 Jan at 16:24
We extend a very warm welcome to the return of big-time British boxing to our screens this weekend as Matchroom Sports kick-start 2015 with their star-studded show at London’s 02 Arena on Saturday night with the Sky Sports cameras in attendance. Kevin Mitchell’s bid for the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title headlines a fantastic bill on Saturday but there’s little value about so we’re polishing off a couple of the undercard gems that look to be priced in our favour. First up Tommy Martin should get the better of Ricky Boylan in their English light-welterweight tussle. Undefeated Martin is an improving fighter and being a former gym-mate of mine in East London I can tell you he has what it takes to succeed at this level. Regular readers of my column will remember we had an incredible win when opposing Boylan last..
Special Teams in the NHL
by undertherobe on 24 Jan at 20:05
My first blog on OLBG looked at how important special teams is in the NHL. Over the last five seasons, 20 of the teams finishing in the Top 5 in Powerplay percentage have reached the playoffs whilst 20 of the teams finishing in the Top 5 in Penalty killing have also reached the playoffs. An impressive 80% strike rate and not surprising given that scoring goals (and stopping them) is the name of the game on the ice. In stark contrast, just six of the teams finishing in the Bottom 5 in Powerplay percentage have gone to the playoffs and of the teams finishing in the Bottom 5 in Penalty killing, again just six have gone on to extend their season. That’s a less than impressive 24% strike rate. Of course, things can change massively once a team gets into the postseason...
