College Football Preview 2014
by undertherobe on 30 Jul at 21:57
It’s been almost 8 months since Florida State became the first non-SEC National Champion in College Football since Texas in 2005. Since the College Football National Championship became the BCS National Championship in 1998, the SEC had won 9 titles which is 7 more than any other Conference. After what seems like an eternity since the Seminoles’ Jameis Winston threw a Championship winning touchdown to Kelvin Benjamin with just 13 seconds left, we’re now just over a month away from opening week which gets underway on Wednesday August 27th with Georgia State taking on Abilene Christian. Big changes in 2014 After much frustration with the BCS format of selecting the two teams to feature in the National Championship, the NCAA have opted for a four team playoff in 2014. This means the old computer system has gone and the teams are..
Premiership 2014/2015 - obscure markets review
by botev1921 on 01 Aug at 00:08
As we know well, the good punter needs to be constantly aware of potential value selections out there but often we see people so absorbed by a certain market that the less obvious but still very fruitful selections remain ignored. One of the reasons for that is also the lack of coverage by some bookies of those less popular markets, even when it comes to the Premiership itself. While I hate to bury myself in endless ideas about markets which are often not easy to argument using the simple punter’s logic, I have come up with several suggestions, which might be a gold mine. Feel free to share your opinion even if it differs completely from what I am about to present. I strongly encourage you to check all the obscure markets right away as the season quickly approaches and..

by scoobydoo68 on 28 Jul at 19:35
With the new premier league season just three weeks away team's are frantically trying to bring in new players to improve their team before the transfer window closes, this blog will be focussing on the lower half of the premier league taking an in depth look at those clubs who may well be fighting relegation this season. PREMIER LEAGUE RELEGATION ASTON VILLA PLAYERS IN Tom Leggett (from Southampton) Isaac Nehemie (from Southampton) Phillipe Sendaros (from Valencia) Joe Cole (from West Ham) Kieron Richardson(from Fulham) PLAYERS OUT Marc Albrighton Nathan Delfouneso Aston Villa had a very poor season in the 2013/2014 season finishing 15th place overall, for most of the season Villa looked as tho relegation looked very likely but thankfully for their fans a strong second half to the season saw them climb the table and avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship. Many of their problems were a lack of experience which..
The Rise And Fall Of The Bradford Bulls
by scoobydoo68 on 28 Jul at 23:54
Bradford Bulls have a rich history in the world of rugby league and are one of super league's most decorated clubs having won every trophy possible, however the Bulls have been tamed as financial troubles on and off the field have had a devastating impact at Odsal. This is the story of how the Bradford Bulls one of rugby league's biggest clubs have fallen to their knees Founded in 1863 as Bradford FC the club struggled to find a suitable ground to play on amid financial problems, they played their first ever professional rugby league match at Horton Cricket Ground however had to change location no few than five times in their first 10 years of existence, Bradford FC were finally in a position to buy their own stadium sharing with Bradford Cricket Club in 1879 which gave the club stability..
Swiss Super League (belated) Preview
by garethp1981 on 28 Jul at 20:58
Whilst I do take an occasional interest in Swedish and Irish football, these leagues are really just what I use to fill the gap football-wise in the summers where there is no World Cup or Euros tournament. Since there was a World Cup this year I have barely looked at either of these at all. For me, it is the leagues starting around this time of the year that interest me most. These “winter” leagues (actually taking place through late summer, autumn, winter and spring) are the main ones that interest me from an entertainment point of view as well as of course, to bet on. With the World Cup behind us I have taken a couple of weeks off from blogging after the competition. Before I knew it though, the winter leagues are already starting again. My plan..
Glorious Goodwood 2014 Tips and Thoughts - Days 4 & 5
by monkeytennis on 31 Jul at 16:10
Glorious Goodwood rolls on and once again this preview will cover 2 days’ worth of action with both Friday’s and Saturday’s races looked at. There looks to be the threat of some rain on Saturday but it shouldn’t be enough to affect the going which remains good to firm at the time of writing. Friday 3.05 The first race that interests me on this card is the Betfred Mile, although admittedly this sort of race at Goodwood should come with a health warning with traffic problems aplenty guaranteed. There doesn’t seem to be one outstanding candidate here with the most progressive runners arriving here higher in the weights following good wins last time out. I’m therefore willing to chance Belgian Bill again after he all but refused to race on Saturday at Ascot. He lost more ground at the start than the..
Trainers to follow in August
by Scratville on 31 Jul at 23:06
July was an absolute disaster (the second worst month since I started the blog) only 1 of the 8 trainers showed us a profit and the usually reliable P Bowen was the worst performer. Now (£39.00) LSP for 2014 but still well up since the start of the blog with 12 out of 15 winning months. 11 trainers to go at this month, 5 on the Flat (turf) and 6 NH, even though we have 11 trainers I think less runners this month which should be a good thing. FLAT TURF KEITH DALGLEISH 3YO+ New trainer on the blog and a trainer that will give us some runners at the northern tracks. Poor record with his 2yo's so it is his 3yo+ horses that look the most profitable. 2011 5/40 13% ..

Who else sees Arsenal as the Premiership value selection?
When I was writing about Arsenal and their slim chances of winning the league in late January, I pointed out several very serious issues and problematic areas that would eventually see them drop to 4th, which ended up being a...
