  • UEFA Champions League; where’s the value now the draw is complete?

    bobslay13 on 26 Aug at 22:26

Champions League; where’s the value after the draw? Group A PSG; 16/1 BetStars Paris St. Germain made the quarter finals last season. They only conceded one goal in Group A, a joint record in Champions League history. This was a very impressive feat considering they were grouped with Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk, both teams who are capable of scoring heavily in Europe. They also arguably outplayed Real in Madrid despite losing 1-0. PSG have bought well again this summer in the shape of Jese Rodrigues, Thomas Meunier and Grzegorz Krychowiak whilst landing Hatem Ben Arfa on a free is also a great coup when considering how well he played for Nice last season. More exciting than all of this though is the rise up the ranks of Jean-Kevin Augustin and Presnel Kimpembe. The big question looming over PSG is how they…

  • World Cup 2018 Qualifying - Europe Group A

undertherobe on 27 Aug at 14:59

Following on from the success of OLBG’s Euro 2016 blogging assignments, fellow blogger Micko70 came up with the idea of something similar for the European World Cup qualifying campaign which gets underway in the first week of September. I’ve been tasked with looking at Group A and as well as a look at the six teams involved, this blog will be updated before each matchday to identify any new long term bets and to briefly preview the matches ahead. So can France kick on from reaching the final of Euro 2016, was The Netherlands Euro 2016 qualifying campaign a blip and can the likes of Bulgaria or Belarus emulate Iceland and provide a surprise package during this qualifying campaign? Netherlands The Netherlands were seeded 1st in the qualifying draw, courtesy of being ranked 5th in the world and 3rd in Europe at the…

  • Four things to watch at the US Open

undertherobe on 28 Aug at 12:59

We've reached the end of August which means only one thing on the tennis calendar, the final Grand Slam of the season. Monday August 29th sees the start of the US Open at Flushing Meadow. Here's my four things to watch over the next fortnight.... The British Charge As ever, Andy Murray leads the British charge but he has a decent supporting cast behind him who are more than capable of making some headway in the draw. Dan Evans loves the hard courts and famously reached the 3rd round here back in 2013, defeating Kei Nishikori along the way. Evans is the British number two and he has the most favourable draw of the challengers, as he faces off against Rajeev Ram in round one. Aljaz Bedene faces Nick Kyrgios whilst Kyle Edmund takes on Richard Gasquet. In the women's event, Johanna Konta…

  • NFL 2016: Who To Back In The Receiving Yardage Market

    Gman84 on 29 Aug at 03:30

Continuing with a look at the individual stats markets for this upcoming NFL season I am now going to turn my attention to the receiving yards market having already covered the passing yardage market and rushing yardage market in two other recent blogs. I’m going to change tact though slightly and not talk so much about the players I’m not going to back. I will briefly touch on the top of the market though and then offer the selections I feel offer value but this is one of the most wide open markets from all the stat categories that you can place a bet on so whilst that means there are more value prices on offer it also means there are a lot more players to consider. What does Recent History Tell Us? Here is the list of who has…

  • Premier League Relegation 2016/17. End of August update, predictions, and betting tips.

    davidg3907 on 28 Aug at 19:00

Premier League Relegation 2016/17. This is the first of this season’s series of updates. It will analyse (as much as possible) how teams have fared to date, and their prospects before the next international break in early October. Early pre-season thoughts were posted on both the systems forum and main forum but now it is time to post the first in-season update. The next is planned to coincide with the next international break at the beginning of October. Relegation diary HULL Hull did nothing to impress me during the play-offs, and with only minor adjustments to their squad look certain to struggle. Time, and probably finances, are not on their side in an attempt to really take the team away from the relegation battle. The one saving grace is that with several teams potentially involved, they should be able to prevent themselves getting detached. Current mid-point…

  • The Team I'm Backing For This Years Super Bowl Is...

    Gman84 on 27 Aug at 20:27

After a seven month wait the 2016 NFL season is almost upon us. We have one more week of preseason games to go and then the time for talking will be done and the real games will begin in earnest. So it’s time to put my money where my mouth is. Last year in the OLBG American Football Discussion Forum I did make a post in preseason pointing out that the Denver Broncos were the team I felt were worth backing so let’s try and repeat that trick this season with my preseason Super Bowl prediction. There are many things to consider when making this kind of bet/prediction. Do I believe it offers value? Do I have valid reasons to believe it can be successful? Will it fall flat on its face early? The last statement…
