Newcastle Entertain Arsenal
by Micko70 on 26 Aug at 10:56
Newcastle United looked fine against Southampton on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season when drawing 2-2 They struggled for the whole game against Swansea when they lost 2-0 and ended up with 10 after Daryl Janmatt was sent off for 2 yellow cards They also defended well against Man United in game 3 and came away with a creditable 0-0 draw, they rode their luck a little at times but also had their own chances The game has a 12.45pm kick on Saturday and will be shown live on BT Sport Early Season Form Newcastle started the season well with a 2-2 draw at home to Southampton, they showed a bit of character that was lacking last season when coming back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 but sadly they couldn't hold on for the points. Their next game saw a very..

Premier League 2015/16 weekend 3 Statistical Review, Updated Overall figures and Thoughts for weekend It has been truly fantastic to have domestic football back, the first few weeks have just been absolutely brilliant with the Premier League proving great goals and entertainment. In this blog I'm going to look at some facts and figures from last weekend in the Premier League, indeed I'll endeavour to do my best to do this as often as possible :- Total Goals Scored The 10 Premier League matches played produced a total of 23 goals, at an average of 2.3 goals per Premier League game with the highest scoring game seeing 7 goals scored as Bournemouth achieved an amazing 4-3 win at West Ham United meaning that West Ham's last 2 games have produced 10 goals. Overall that's now 77 goals which have..
Saturday Thoughts - The Leicester Question
by garethp1981 on 22 Aug at 12:37
The most likely result in the early kick off is of course a Manchester United win, to say anything else would make no sense at all. Manchester United are a better side than Newcastle on paper and on recent form. United may not have been that convincing in their first two games but they have two wins to their name; a much better than the single point Newcastle have managed. The question is, do United have a better than a 74% chance of winning this game; this is the chance implied by the odds on offer. I think that the unconvincing nature of their two league wins so far and the fact that they played in midweek (in what was not the walkover it should have been), means that they have less that the answer to that question is no...

Capital One Cup 2nd Round Shocks
by Micko70 on 23 Aug at 11:58
The Capital One Cup is now at the 2nd round stage, the non European playing Premier League teams join in this round and all of the sides are split into 2 pots, seeded and unseeded, which means 1 seeded team (Premier League & top Championship club) will play a non seeded team So we avoid any all Premier League clashes yet almost every tie has the possibility of a shock result. The 24 winners will be joined by the 8 teams that have entered European Football competitions and this will make up the 32 teams that will contest round 3, which will have no seeding and be a normal draw All but 1 of the 2nd round ties are played on Tuesday, the full list of fixtures is as follows - Tuesday's games 7:45 - Aston Villa v Notts County 7:45 - Birmingham City v..
