6 things you MUST know before betting at the Cheltenham Festival
by man o bong on 01 Mar at 08:26
What probably wont happen, cant happen, is very unlikely to happen at the Cheltenham Festival! My long time colleague Billy121 has already touched on trends and indeed how misleading they might be and has worked out some wonderful figures for them, here I am looking specifically at negative trends to consider for the week! Just 1 of the last 23 Christmas Hurdle winners has won the Champion Hurdle in the same season My Tent Or Yours stalked The New One round Kempton and got his nose in front between the final hurdle and the line Ruby Walsh has not won a single Chase race at the Cheltenham Festival in his last 34 rides! We have to go back to his winning ride aboard Kauto Star in 2010 to find his last chase success at the Cheltenham Festival. Zero return from 34 chase rides since. Only..
The Fate of the Festival Favourites
by lazarus76 on 02 Mar at 18:17
This is a look at how the favourites have feared at the festival in an attempt to see if there are any particular stats or trends that can help us as the greatest sporting occasion approaches, for this piece I will only be going back over the last 20 years and will be concentrating on the Championship races and ignoring the handicaps, that still gives us fourteen races to look at that can hopefully give us a few pointers and insights as we take on the bookies. Day One (Tuesday) Supreme Novices’ Hurdle This race has been an absolute graveyard for favourites, there hasn’t been a favourite win this race for 10 years, the last winning favourite of this race was Brave Inca @7/2, in 2004 and only three favourites have won this race in the past 20 years (15%), so favourite backers..
Dubai World Cup Carnival 2014 - race by race preview and selections for Saturday 8th March
by tbuckley on 06 Mar at 01:24
Dubai World Cup Carnival 2014 - race by race preview and selections for Saturday 8th March There are only two more Dubai World Cup Carnival meetings left for 2014 with an amazing, high quality card lined up for this forthcoming Saturday (8th March) and then it all culminates on Saturday 29th March with the Dubai World Cup night. This year on Dubai World Cup night, all the horses, trainers and jockeys from virtually every continent of the world will be competing for a total prize fund of nearly $28 US million dollars with the Group 1 Dubai World Cup itself worth $10 US million dollars, the $5 US million dollar Group 1 Sheema Classic and the $5 US million dollar Group 1 Duty Free the key focal points of the meeting. While the other races on the Dubai World Cup..
Trainers to follow in March
by Scratville on 28 Feb at 22:46
Well it's that time of month again, we didn't quite manage to make it 9 consecutive winning months, after being 30+ points up in February at one point we eventually finished (-0.2) loss aarrgg! Still up for the year though and over 100 points in profit since the blog started. An exciting month ahead with the Cheltenham festival and the start of the flat season. Eleven trainers to follow this month, 4 NH trainers and 7 AW trainers. I don't think these 11 trainers will have the volume of runners than most months but that might not be a bad thing as all roads lead to Cheltenham. NH JEREMY SCOTT Somerset trainer who has not featured on the blog before. 2010 1/14 7% (£ 8.50) 2011 4/13 31% ..
Adding Extra Value to 1X2 Bets: Part 3 - Goal Quantities
by danbradley on 04 Mar at 23:36
The over/under 2.5 market has exploded over recent years, with many punters trying to take advantage of generally quite common knowledge regarding the goalscoring nature of certain teams. Unfortunately the bookies have also sensed this opportunity, with the majority of 'obvious' overs and unders only available at very low prices. Knowing that the majority will bet on the obvious outcome, they are able to keep reducing to such a level which makes it very difficult to make a profit using this market alone. You will see from the monthly comments table of 'Football Goals over/under' that the profit margins across a month are usually quite low and it is rare to find the same tipster topping the table twice in the same year. Therefore I am proposing a different way of looking at the goals markets, namely going one step further..
