Group A - Poland v Greece â€'
Neither of these teams are prolific scorers, so I don’t see a goal fest here. It would be easy to side with Poland because of home advantage, but Greece are normally a different side when they get to the finals of a competition. Greece have a very experienced side and the likes of Salpingidis, Karagouis and Celtic’s Georgios Samaras who have seen it all before when they surprisingly won this competition in 2004. Poland have a strong squad themselves that play their football in the leagues all over the Europe. Arsenal have two out of the three Polish keepers and it will be interesting to see if Fabianski gets the nod over Szczesny (a reversal of their roles at The Emirates). Both Lewandowski and Blaszczkowski have had excellent seasons winning the Bundesliga with Dortmund in Germany. In a Group that also contains Russia and the Czech Republic, it will be difficult to qualify if you lose the first game. At time of writing both teams warm up games have gone more or less to plan. Tight game for me and a low scoring draw.
