Forest have won their previous two opening day fixtures, both at home and by the same score-line (1-0, Bristol City & Huddersfield respectively).
They tend to start slowly & drew 0-0 at home against Barnsley in 2012/13's opening game.
Forest have a poor home record against Blackpool, losing last season when they were down to ten men, but they perhaps might never have a better opportunity to break this sequence against their bogey side.
Forest were plagued by injuries last season and should be boosted by the return of Reid & Lansbury & Matt Fryatt is a useful striker at this level.
Blackpool's problems are well-documented and there seems to be 'a Mexican stand-off' between the chairman and new manager Jose Riga.
It may be that Blackpool assemble a side quickly, but close season preparations don't augur well as it is a time for new signings to familiarise themselves with each other and develop camaraderie.
With three weeks to the season, Forest should win this opener, though I suspect they might make heavy weather of it, but a win is a win especially against a side they have struggled against.

Blackpool are in turmoil and at this moment in time they do not even have enough players to fill a team, they have lost any decent players they had last season and this season could continue the way the last one finished for them. Forest have Pearce at the helm and although I am not convinced by his managerial skills, it is still impossible to bet against them here as the opposition will be so poor.

As it stands with a month to go before this game, Blackpool have only 8 players. Hard to believe, there pre season is a shambles, carrying on from the end of last season. Ince has gone with as host of others, and if Forest cant get off to a flyer under Stuart Pearce he might as well give up now. New look Forest will have trained as a team and the players know each other, whereas Blackpool will have relative strangers making up a team.
Nottingham Forest under club legend Stuart Pearce have strengthened an already we'll established Championship outfit.
The signing of former Chelsea CB Michael Mancienne particularly impresses me, and if he can form a solid partnership with Lascelles then they will be very difficult to beat.
I'm very confident that Forest will get off to a winning start at home to lowly Blackpool, especially seeing as the latter are much depleted squad wise.
Pearce will be looking for a comfortable win at home in his 1st game to get Forest on track for a big promotion push this year.

Blackpool won this fixture at Forest last season and they also drew the home game. Are Blackpool that much "smaller" a club to justify this price? Their average gates last season were 14K and 21K.
